I would really like to have a bow mount trolling motor on my boat. I currently have a transom mount and its difficult to control my boat and keep it on course. It's only an old 14ft aluminum with a fairly shallow hull. Does anybody have any ideas how I can mount a bow mount to this thing?

Thanks alot,
Craig

You could build a small deck at the bow of your boat.  Don't know if it would be large enough, or if you boat would be balanced enough to allow you to stand on it and cast from it comfortably, but it would allow you to mount a trolling motor and fishfinder at the bow.....maybe a small tackle storage compartment and a couple of cup holders too.... ;PEP)

I have done it with three john boats and one v bottom just like this. Use 3/4 plywood and cut it to fit across the front and get some galvanized bolts and nuts to mount it with. I measure out a 2 x 4 as a vertical brace in the very center from the floor up to the plywood, this will help sturdy it for the trolling motor mount. Then mount your trolling motor along side the edge of your boat across the deck, usually on the left side.

I got fancy once and built some compartments to go under the deck :-*

I had a 14 V bottom just like yours.  It can be done just follow Mike's instructions below.
This was the same way I had to do mine.  I even ran 6 gauge wiring from the back of the boat to the front underneath my carpeted plywood floor I installed.  My batteries were in the rear of the boat.

The only problem I had was being able to stand up for a period of time while operating the foot control.   :(

I actually fell out of my boat while doing it, I stepped on the pedal the boat went one way and I went out the other side.   ~b~ ~b~

It takes some practice to be able to stand up and operate the pedal. ;)

I was thinking a small deck on the front too, be carful, I can see where it'd be easy to fall off...Steve

I have a little 11 foot boat, and did pretty much the same as what Mike mentioned, by building and adding a small deck. I think a casting deck would work great on you Alum boat and make the boat look great and worth a lot more $$$. You could even add a Troll-Eze pedal tray into the deck to help with space issues and deck clutter.
