Ok, I'm gonna let ya'll in on one of my best kept secrets.  How many of you have ever been fishing around lilly pads at the crack of dawn and noticed shad jumping all on top of them?  Then all of a sudden the bass start a feeding frenzy like Great Whites after seals.  You throw everything you can think of, but all they want is those shad.  I fish Cane River here in La. alot, and the shad do this during the summer.  It only lasts til the sun clears the treeline, then they shut off like a switch.  You have to make the most of every second.  Ok, here's what to do.  Tie on a SPRO Bronzeye Poppin Frog in TROPICAL WHITE.  Throw it as close to the bank as you can, then retrieve it very slowly using short twitches.  If the frog seems to hang on the edge of a pad, just shake it in place.  The legs of the frog resemble shad, and the popping sound it makes sounds just like the shad!  It's definitely Not for the faint of heart!!!  As far as gear goes, I use a 7' USA Custom Rod with 65# braid, with a 7:1 gear ratio reel.  I won several of my club tournaments last year using this technique.  It will work anywhere you have pads and the shad are spawning.  MOST IMPORTANT:  After the strike, give the bass just a second to take the lure before you stick him!!!  These frogs are also AWESOME during the bass spawn also!!!  Just throw it around where you think bass are bedding, and walk it slow!!!    I promise that if you try this tip, you WON'T be dissappointed!!!   Try it and please let me know how it works for you!!!

Well now, I am just gonna have to run out, get USA rods to build me a custom frog rod and buy some tropical white spro frogs, some Gammy superline hooks and 65 lb test line
If it involves more than drinking coffee and fishing, I aint interested.

firerat41

I've never tried this with a buzzfrog, but I have tried with a ribbit.  I have found the Spro Poppin Frog to work better. You can just let it sit in place and twitch your rod, and it looks exactly like those spawning shad.  They tend to miss the ribbit style frogs.  The hookup ratio on the Spro frog is unreal!!!

Wow, this is just a great example of a positive mindset and a fine cheerful attitude.  I really appreciate all of the knowlege and positive things you bring to this forum.

Im actually pretty sick of it.  I find myself starting to avoid any threads that BK contributes to.  I think you (BK) need to go back to using a stick and some possum gut string and a bone hook with a cricket, because everything you say you use has been adtervised and promoted by someone.  Im not really sure what a "mook" is but i've developed my own definition.  I dont believe I am alone in being sick of your attitude about the products that we all use.  Heres a thought, see a doctor and have that giant chip removed from your sholder.  Im not sure if you tried to be a pro, and was shot down by the advertvising gurus of the fishing circuits, and have sworn vengence aginst them, or what has happened to you, but you might want to think about a personality tune-up.  Sorry I sound so cold, but man it gets old hearing the same $hit from you.  You have had some very good points to make about products, however usually it is very negative, and that is not why I have spent so many years on this site. Just lighten up man, and keep it pleasant.

Ill give you a clue Bassindude, don't read my posts then, what can i tell you. Thank God for the scroll function. I am not here to fit in or please anyone. Talk some fishing, my style, pass the winter. I aint leaving just because you dont feel me. Have a good rest of the winter, now there that's something cheerful ;PEP)

It's gets tiring hearing the same old crap for me, but I read it and respond, it is what this place is about , i thought.

If you fellas thiunk that folks don't buy what pros endorse, then why do the corporate suit mooks pay them so much to do it. Sales for formerly endorsed Tiger products HAVE DROPPED SINCE THEY CANNED HIM, public was more willing to forgive him i guess
Why are there click counters, tracking cookies and all sorts of " Value finding " tools on all these Forums?

Why have all the BPS sold out of that little Gold Red EYE. Please I really dislike when somone is peeeing on my shoes and tries to tell me its raining

btw disclaimer: I have never once tried to or wanted to be a pro, or sought any kind of sponsorship. One company actually sent me something to see if i would be interested, it was actually my best friend, he has a very good sense of humor, and it's how i learned how to spell Zebco right, because thats the phony offer he sent me, made for a great birthday

I actually have, beautiful daughter, a wonderful woman, a job I love, a small tin boat ,and a wonderful life, no i am not Jimmy Stewart ~roflmao ~roflmao

I guess I use the term 'buzzfrog' as a generic...my personal choice is the Horny Toad...

I've used the spro poppin' frog in tropical white...caught some nice fish in the pads using it...(just wish they'd make it in neon glow)...

BK has some pretty good comments...I also find him 'somewhat' typical of a new york personality...

FWIW:  he's just playin' with us...figure like most of us in the great white 'north' he's really ready for ice out but knows it's too darned far away for comfort...

It's that time of year that even after reminding myself to 'settle down' I still get grumpy... ;D

Why do you try an belittle people's actual experience?  In this case, the guy gave personal experience with a frog and a technique.   He didn't mention any rod or line brands, yeah he named a brand of frog, but I am sure any white frog would work the same and if he had EXPERIENCE with another brand he'd mention it.

I used to be just like you, a mook from Canarsie, Brooklyn, always looking to prove I am smarter and better. However I learned over many years to listen more than I react.  I used to go toe to toe with folks who disagreed with me because I knew I was right!  Now I realize there can be more than one side to every statement and try to just let people be.  If I disagree, I just keep my mouth shut and let them be the fool.  (the fact I am replying to you show's I am not perfect   ~b~ ).

Just because people like to try what others have does not mean they are "sheep".  There is solid product out there and most of the time you do get what you pay for.  I bought SHEMANO because I came from bicycling background and knew Shimano made really great bike parts, and figured I could not go wrong with their middle range reels.   I bought a Shimano rod because I like warranties that don't involve shipping.

I bought omega jigs and Karu lures because they support this place, and I'd like to thank them for that.

There is always knowledge that can be applied if you read between the lines of what people are saying.  Even a fool's statements may not be with out value.  His conclusion as to what caused a bite may be completely off the mark, but the description of what was used and the conditions could help you find a pattern.

I've said enough.  I know if I met you in person, I'd buy you a beer and we could talk fishing. I am sure you are full of more knowledge than I am as I've only been at this for less than a year.   I know you have a lot of knowledge to offer, but mocking people won't help them hear you.

Take care bro and if you want to chat sometime, hit my webpage, my number is on it.

You are all very welcome.  I spend alot of time on the water.  Over the years, I've had days that I could do no wrong, and then I've had those days when I even wondered if there was a bass ANYWHERE in the body of water that I was on.  One thing I love to do is to take people who are new to bass fishing out with me.  Nothing beats that big ole grin they get after they catch a few.  I can HONESTLY say that on days like that, I don't care if I even boat a fish.  Just watching the joy of someone new to our sport having a blast makes my day.  That's why I don't mind sharing everything that I've learned over the years.  If I can just help one person have success their next time out, than it's all worth it to me.  I'd also like to add that I am NOT paid by any of my sponsors, and that I have used ALL of my sponsors' products for years with success before even becoming a member of their Pro Staffs.  I'm not saying that a similar product or lure would not work in the same situation.  I just report what I was using.  Thanks again guys for all your support.  This is an AWESOME site with TONS of great information AND great people.  If I can EVER help any one of you, PLEASE just let me know!!!  God Bless and Tight Lines!!!
