Another bank fisherman idea

When bank fishing, I like to take 2 rod/reel combos with me. One combo is not enough, and 3 or more combos are just too much. When I am beating the banks, I like to cast and move, cast and move....so more than one rod can be a bit of a pain having to pick up and put down the 'other' rod all the time. So here's what I did.

I have a small shoulder bag that holds all my tackle needs, so I added a piece of PVC tube to the side of the bag. I just used cable ties. I first put on some electrians tape for the cable ties to grip better so that the tube doesn't slip.

Now I can carry one rod combo on my bag whilst casting and walking along the bank without stopping.

Just have to watch my rod tip for trees and power cables!!!!
If there are power cables anywhere in the area, then please don't try this idea!!!!

Awesome, I had seriously considered something very similar for my backpack until I realized it was too easy for me to get caught up and bang around the brush. However, on  a shoulder type bag it would definitely be more manageable.

I too got tired of lugging te 3-4 rods around from the bank so I addressed my problem by making what I call my rod quiver. It could be configured to hold however many rods you wish. You would just need to change the shape.

"Industrial Strength" velcro as Home Depot calls and sells it is used to secure the blanks to the quiver.

This is how I place it on the ground, propped on a bag. If the ground is even, it can be left upright as well. The reels never touch the ground and stay scratch and dirt free.

The neatest thing about it is that it allows me to carry 3 rods with one hand.

I really like your practical solution.  :-* Mind if I make one for my shoulder bag?

I think I remember when you first posted this IB, I really like you idea also.

Please feel free to make your own shoulder bag rod holder....that is why I posted it here for everyone to share.
In fact, I may have to copy yours also  lo

Thanks. Making the rod quiver is not too hard. Matter of fact, I just used a drafter's 45 deg angle triangle as the template. I'll tell you that it really comes in handy on those shore outings and has become a conversation starter.  It makes switching from the jig n pig to the drop shot or a crankbait on the fly very convenient. ~beer~

Do you have a link to your original post??

both are very good rod holders and dont cost much to make,, two great tips ~c~.. BK are the power lines that low, you have to worry about hitting them with a 7ft rod only 11 or 12 ft high??

Unfortunately there is one lake out in the country that does have very low power cables directly above a barrierI have to climb over. There are warning signs all along the area.

I wrote down my specs and basic steps somewhere, but I can't find it and I never wrote up a tutorial on it in a forum type of format. ~b~  I'll let you know when I find it.  Sorry!

I really like the "quiver" idea!  :toot: So simple yet practical and functional. I hate carrying around 1 rod and reel and leaving the others in my car while I am away from it, ya never know who might see them and decide they need them more!  ~rant Won't make for a good day of fishing if that happens. Looks like 2 pieces of wood for the top and bottom and 3 wooden dowels at least 1/2 in thick and the velcro and screws, right? Did you use a drill press and make shallow holes for the wooden rods to sit in on the top and bottom pieces so they wouldn't move around?

I hear you on disliking leaving the other rigs in the car. In my neck of the woods, that's just begging to have your car broken into and your stuff stolen by tweekers (theives as we call them here).

Fortunately, it isn't too hard to build and as a matter of fact bassinkorea just built a really nice quiver.  ~c~ I did put together some notes for BK and I can email you the what I emailed him. PM me with your email address if you are interested.

Yep, I built my quiver yesterday in a couple of hours (including a drive to the hardware store), very simple. Thanks for the plans you sent islandbass, they were very detailed and simple to follow. If anyone wants to build one of islandbass's rod quivers, I strongly recommend dropping him a PM for the plans  :-*

Here's the one I built....
