a good height on 6'' jack plate

I have a 08 nitro z7 with 175 opti was wondering what is your specs on how high to raise the motor on the jack plate.I have raised it about 2'' from the factory specs because the hole shot was sluggish.Since its got a little better just wondering if you can go to much.thanks for any imput.

Keep going up in 1/4 or 1/2" increments until you either a; rpms go up but speed doesn't, or b; your water pressure drops below 15psi. Both of these are measured at WOT (Wide Open Throttle). When you reach this point, drop the plate back on notch and you should be at the optimum setting for your boat/motor combo.

The other variables here is handling and holeshot. The above method will give you your best straight line performance but not necessarily the best handling or holeshot. You might have to come back down to find a good balance of all characteristics. Once again just bring it down on notch at a time until your happy with the overall performance.

If you change props you'll need to start over again to find the best performance with that prop. Good luck and be safe when setting up your ride! :-* Looking forward to seeing the results.
