Johnmccutchan made a statement in another tip about get used line taggled in his prop,, which made me think to post this, I know most of us guys never respool on the water, but if you do PLEASE DO NOT THROW IT IN THE WATER. ball it up in a lil ball and put it away until you can dispose of it in the trash or in the 6inch pvc pipe with the 90 on top of it placed at more and more boat ramps, so if you have seen these pipes placed near your boat ramp and wondered what it for, its a reclyce bin for our used fishing line. There has been many of birds killed from trying to use discarded fishing line to make there nest with. so lets all do our part in not only keeping our waters clean but also helping to keep birds safe.

Great reminder Franklin  :-*  When on the water and have a bunch of waste line, I will wrap it around it around the 4 fingers on one hand and throw it into my back pocket. I then dispose of it in the plastic waste cans at home. I have had way to much poorly discarded fishing line wrapped up in my props.

Thanks for posting Franklin  ~c~ ~c~

Good tip! ~c~ Between the trolling motor and shore fishing, we pick up and throw away what seems like miles of discarded line every year. The pictures of ducks, birds, and other animals killed by used line is not a pretty site.

I even cut the line into smaller bits so they don't get tangled into wings and things.  just place the line on a chopping board and chop away, great way to relive stress.  Sorta like double chopping parsley or other leafy things

I do appreciate you comment...lots of damage can be caused by the fishing line us people toss in the lake...I am guilty...sure at least some of you readers have done so...not with intent to harm..of..course...but it aint a perfect world..and never going to be...but...if you put in....someone may take it out with their outboard or trolling motor and loose the day.

thats a great idea there,, so if does end up in a land fill its not going to be able to hurt any wildlife ~c~

I cut my line up as well.  After taking it off the reel, I will ball it up and make one simple cut through the ball.  This leaves line strands too short to do any damage to our wild critters.

if you can remember to save some of your used braid line...just wrap it back around a empty line container.  The braid line can be used to repair seats and anything thats a heavy material.  I use braid line to resew my seat cushion in my Peterbilt...it held great.  Works great on repair the seams in coats that have come undone.

Funny this should come up.  before I replaced my old boat cover, I bought a spool of spider wire, 10 lb test , 2 lb diameter.  I put it on the sewing machine and promptly sewed the holes.  Later I discoverd it works great for making your own lure covers out of naughahide ( disclaimer: no naughas were kill or intentionally harmed during this procedure)  lo
