Hoosier and another one that goes along with that one  is if they are laying down go back home but if they are up eatting get to the lake as soon as you can cause the fish will be hungry and eating too  ;)

In the summer time when it's hot I head for the marinia pears and jigh right up against them for Crappies but have also caught some nice Bass holding up under neath the floatting structures in the cooler waters.

When fishing the rivers and you see a stick up anywhere near the river channle even if it's all by it's self be sure to throw a spinner bait around it or drop a Jig on it too.

Any two river/creek channels meeting - fish are somewhere close by.

Anywhere timber and vegetation meet is a good place to start searching.

Shallow grass in spring when the water temps reach 57-62 degrees - spawn is about ready to occur.

If you see a slight ripple in the water's surface going against the normal wave action on a day with a slight breeze, throw a shad imitator out in front of the odd ripple.  It is most likely a bass chasing shad (or another type of fish chasing shad)

In the spring time when I'm fishing the stump fields or I keep an eye on the shore line and if I see some thing breaking the surfface in the shallow water I keep a pole riged up with a jig and a bobber to throw up there cause the Crappie will be up there feeding.

Vegitaition growth levels on the Big G in spring dictate the lure selection.  If it emergant, Rat-L-Traps... If its not there, tubes and lizards in laydowns.

if I'm on the water fishing weeds and see a  spot weed out by its self I will work it slower and and from different angles. you will find that it may hold a fish or two that is staying away form the school!

I look to see if there are any bugs on top of the water, to me thats a sign that fish will migrate toward them to eat them, so I cast into the buggy area and wait.

Sharon

If a bird swoops down and catches fish (  ~xyz ) Ill cast in that direction.

Sharon

If looking down from the dock, I see minnows, Ill cast there. Since they are eating the vegetation, the bigger fish should follow suit.

In the lakes around here, the dark spots in the water is a sure sign there are fish hanging out there. Not sure if its rock or grass, but theres always something lurking there.

Sharon

Mornings I fish closer to shore while the water is still cool.

Sharon

Middle of the day when its hotter, I cast out further where the water is deeper and cooler.

When working a muddy fishing hole, I look for transition spots that have muddy water with clear water adjacent.  Then I work a jerkbait right along where the two meet.

OHbassaholic

On hot, sunny summer days I work the edge of shady overhangs from bank trees and bushes.  This is where I like to work a shallow crankbait.

OHbassaholic

Another of my favorite spots to fish is the open area between submerged cover and the bank.  Slow moving plastics or topwater lures are my preferred tactics.

During and after a good rain, I will target runoff points along a river bank.  This runoff often draws baitfish to the incoming feast of bugs and such, therefore bringing the bass into the area.  Usually, I find a fast moving lure draws more attention but there are times when I ended up using a jig+trailer.
I haven't had the chance to try this out yet, but, I'm looking forward to trying an Ugly Otter in this situation both as a fast moving target and then as a trailer.  I have high hopes... :-*

I alway look for where any creeks or streams or rivers run in to the lake or even a discharge culvert becaus they draw in th ebait fis which in turn bring in t bigger fish. I like to fish a jig through there just cast it up in the current and let if drift back to you,

Talkin about run offs,  Cats love hangin around the "swirl" or current created by these drains runnin into lakes, toss your favorite catfish bait into the swirl, a small amount of weight to let is slowly sink out, gets em every time.  ;)

Lights on docks or near water usually means gathering bait fish at night and a hang out for bass. I will work these areas thoroughly.

Kal-Kevin

if when on the water I see a discharge pipe discharging in to  the lake I will fish this area looking for fish feeding o the turned up water!

Kal-Kevin

if launching the boat I see minnows near shore I will check out coloring and size  to match the bait fish while fishing!
