Istokpoga - Tuesday, 8/4/09

Fished Istokpoga for the first time today. Put in at Windy Point at 6:30 and motored to Bumblebee Island. The water was very dirty. Tried horny toads, senkos and VibraShocks in the reeds and lily pads as I went around the island. Occasionally I tried a rattle trap and a top water prop bait along the edge of the weeds and flipped a crawdad into the weeds. Not even a nibble!    At around 9:30 or 10:00 I motored to the west shore and tried those weed lines, again no luck. At 11:30 or so went south past Windy Point and found a cypress field and tried flipping the base of the trees, hooked something but lost it. At least it was a bite and I was in the shade!    Left at 12:30 or 1:00.

I had tried Lake June with similar results last week.  So far it's Highlands county lakes 2, me 0! I am taking my brother to Isto Thursday. I better stop at a bait shop and ask for some pointers!

10" to 12" worms in hydrilla is the ticket this time of year, try flipping the pads in the north end as this is a major release area and holds fish year round.

Hey Al, glad to see your post. Sorry it wasn't a better post. I am sure you will figure them out over there soon.

I haven't been out in a long time myself. Well, not in my Skeeter anyway. Been taking out the little pond hopper boat.
