i dont use spiderwire because i dont like the way it sounds going thru the eyes of your rod, an dwhere i live you dont have to use goat rope to catch them.
god grant that i may live to fish until my dying day and when it comes to my last cast i then most humbly pray when in the lords safe landing net i"m peacefully asleep that in his mercy i be judged as good enough to keep. member BASS,ILLINOIS FEDERATION

Someone sent me some Trilene Sensation (10lb) to try. Spooled it on a spinning reel and proceeded to loose 5 bass, with the lures, from broken line! Got so mad I stripped it off the reel while on the lake. Maybe it was a bad lot, but I'm not spending $$ to find out.

BassBUFF

Also had someone send me some Berkley Ironsilk (12lb). Spooled it on a baitcaster and got some extreme backlashes. This line has lots of memory and is not very forgiving. Also had a lot of break-offs.

I like using big game in 12 and 15lb. The stuff is as tough as nails. Knots tie well and hold well. The only problem I have with it is after a few uses the memory is a little much. The price is fair and found that it is pretty close to trilene xt without the price. I like using mono.

Spiderwire Fusion- Strong braid but fades and frays real fast. Not as smooth as the Stealth.

Another brand I used to like is Remington Express in 8lb test. Stuff is super smooth and works like a dream when casting. The only problem with this brand is I can't find it anymore, not sure if the company isn't making it or? The 4lb version worked awesomely while ice fishing. Held up in 10 below without any breaking, considering it wasn't ice designed line.

The worst line I have ever used was Renegade, found it at a small shop on the lake. I forgot to respool before we left and I needed some line. They didnt have much of a selection but they had a quarter pound of renegade 15lb in bright green. Was a pinch situation so I took it. Spooled up with it and proceeded to go fishing. The first lure I tied on I used a palomar knot and casted. I know i tied the knot well. Casted the line broke right where the knot was. I figured ok must be my knot so I tried again tied up another. Same thing again snapped right in the knot. Had my friend tie it. Same thing. So no more renegade.

Suffix Siege 12lb.  Love it.  It has become my favorite everyday line.  It is strong, highly abrasion resistant, and doesn't loop.  I have confidence in throwing it in almost all situations.

Spiderwire Super Mono, 6lb.  I absolutely wouldn't ever use it again even if they sent it to me for free.  It is extremely susceptible to fraying and is very brittle.  I know it's only 6lb test, but it shouldn't break when I cast a lure... and I had that problem several times.

My favorite line is Spider Wire stealth.  The first few times coming off the reel it sounds horrendous, but after fishing with it for awhile, the sound goes away.  The major problems I encountered with it at first were:
1.   It creates quite a mess due to it's flexibility. No memory so it will wrap around the tip of your pole, or wrap around weeds on the bank if you leave to much line out when your between casts.  fix: reel all the way to terminal gear.
2.   This line has no stretch.  Easy to set a hook way too hard and will yank the bait right out of the fishes mouth.   Fix: Loosen up the drag just a wee bit so it gives
when you set the hook.
3.   Doesn't cut easily.  I usually use a pair of nail clippers or my teeth to cut line. Neither of these work well with Spiderwire Stealth.  fix:  I carry a small pair of grooming scissors that does the job well, as does a sharp knife.
4. Hard to tie an improved cinch knot as loops tend to close.  Fix:  Tie a palomar knot, it works great!!

In the end, it's not going to matter how many breaths you took, but how many moments took your breath away.

Catfishing line.  I generally use Berkely Trilene Big Game 15lb test.  As improved cinch knots tend to slip a little bit on this line, I will either use a drop of Super Glue, or more often  tie it as a snell and pull tight.  I will then generally KNOT have a problem.

For leader material I like Berkley Vanish Transition Fluorocarbon Line.  I like the fact that is soft and fairly stretchy and holds a knot well.  It  ties well to other lines with a 6 turn blood knot or tying on to a swivel.

If I can't fish with Spiderwire Stealth, my second Choice is Super Silver Thread.
I have little problems with memory, with tangles, snarles, birdsnests with this line and it seems to be stronger than monofiliment ines I have used, basically because it's a copolymer line.  It appears to be more abrasion resistant than Berkely Trilene XT and holds knots better.  I have never had a knot slip on SST.  It's diameter appears to be smaller than most monofilements as well.

If I can't fish with my top two choices my favorite old standby is Berkely Trilene XT.
I am confident in this line to do what I need it to do.  I have fished this in salt and fresh water.  Caught 40 lb mahi mahi, 15 lb catfish, 8 lb red snappers, small sharks, bass almost everything you can imagine on Berkely Trilene xt.  The only issues I have had with it, if it sits on the reel, unused, for too long you will get some memory curls, and it doesn't hold the knot as solidly as the top two choices.  These are easy fixes.  change your line out once a year and superglue or double improved cinch knots.

Well I guess eye better make at least one post in here  lo lo
Eye use Berkley smoked Fire Line in the 8lb test for just about everything. It's hard to break (that's why you need to know how to pop your jigs loose  ;) ) with little streach and hardly any memory to speak off. The only problem I found was that the first time I tied a buzz bait to it and didn't wet the knot before casting well we all know what happened with that buzz bait  ;) but that is the only one and after wetting the knots have never had that problem again. ;D

I like using Barkley Fireline. With very little stretch it's very good at detecting light strikes.  It's good at pulling through weeds and makes a strong hook set.  Some times I think the fish can see in better than mono.

Stren Heavy Cover

Can't recommend this product from the field testing I did.  Way below my standards for use around any abrasive cover or structure.  Magnaflex was tremendously better.

In my book, Heavy Cover is crap.

Do you think I held back too much on this review?  ~shhh

its my first time too do this. but the line that i use is berkley trilene 15#green with a Palomar knot.use a berkley blue meltflake worm 7" power worm Texas stile. works good for me on lake fork.l

With the salt water, I like tuff line 50 pound test. It is coated in teflon/dacron and does not fall apart in the cold salt as other braids do. I use a palomar knot to tie directly to my hook when using bait ~c~

Berkley transition 15lb is great for most of the stuff here in CO. When fishing top water stuff I use fly-float on the last 2-3 feet or so...

Where are we going...and why are we in this hand basket???

silversalmon

With my ultra lite, I enjoy stern 4 pound test line. I have used it for years and have had no problems with it twisting up on my lures, even without a swivel, usually use one though.  ~c~

I'm 100 percent Stern line man I have tried to use trilene and found it to brittle and on hook set it snaps near the hook. i perfer Stern in 8 to 12 lb. test with 6 lb. for light baits in and around docks. the color I perfer on light lines green and clear the rest of the rigs.

PoPoi like the 15#trilene its strong does not break so easy when arond a stump last a long time.most of the fish go right too a stump.but thery our a lot of stumps at lakefork and i get right in them
