Yes, the meeting mentioned here is on go and confirmed! this morning was geared more for political reasons. They are planning on draining the lake as scheduled this yr and getting it lower than ever before. They may leave it down 2 years and encourage the land owners to rake up the crap and burn it. Looks like they are planning on making the lake off limits to fishing while they are working on it. The plan sounds good, we will see the details later this month at Reeves.

We are going to have some of the head guys from LDWF come in and share their plans for our area lakes over the next couple of months as well as answer questions and or take comments.

Tuesday July 28 is the date.
Reeves Marine in Bossier City, LA is the place
6:00pm is the time.

Anyone planning on trying to come out? Lets make it worth their drive into town.  The more support we can get, the greater voice we have.  :help:

I'll be at the meeting.  If they're planning on keeping it down for a couple of years, sounds like a good time to replace some missing channel markers too.

That would work for me as you could just hold me down but what would I do if you get rowdy, Maybe D will loan me her skillet that she uses ~roflmao ~roflmao

Do you know the odds of me even being able to stay for the whole thing? :surrender:

I don't think anyone will need a rope and cuffs. It sounds like they are getting serious and willing to try anything. Maybe good news but we need to keep encouraging them to get the problem under control!

We can get a sitter for Fogy and Papa lo

Bankster, I'll be out of town on the 28th so please carry an extra voice with you for me. The plant issue will be resolved with or without me. But like said before, it would be a great time to replace or completly remark the channel and even straiten or widen it to improve boat traffic lanes from the park to the dam. That's just my $.02 worth. Thanks and hope you all have a great meeting and get some answers and plans put together.

Thanks Kyle for getting this whole meeting together, very informative...glad to see Wildlife and Fisheries are looking at the BIG picture and decided to bring in the "problem solver".  Sounds like they're going to establish a plan, instead of throwing money at the problem.

Bassprocraft were you there?  I must have missed you.

IMO it was a good meeting, lots of hope and ideas well have to wait and see how the follow through is, only time will tell but the biggest truth is that this chit is here to stay and the big issue is the long tearm fix.   :-*

Well, the Secretary of Wildlife & Fisheries was successful in asking a due to retire department head to stay on one more year. Mark McElroy is now the new sylvania czar of Louisiana. It appears his plan is to drain Bist. starting Sept 8 and leave it down indefinately. They don't have a plan of when to fill it back up. They did say it would not be January like the past couple of years. After getting it down, he is going to look at areas that are still holding water and address those issues by using booms to control the spread of that stuff and find a way to aggresively spray these areas. There are several things on the drawing board but as of now, they are just draining the lake the 7ft that the spillway allows.

There is a new website link on the state dept of wild.&fish.. that you can post comments or questions.

More to come later.

I thought the statement Senator Addly made kind of summerized it.

The answer is not here yet, at this time we do not have the solution hopefully it will come later.

I was sitting on the pontoon boat, to your left of the speakers, with Sen. Adley.

Overall, I think this meeting was a great icebreaker for public feedback and future involvement.  It sounds to me like they want us involved and I think Mark McElroy is someone that will eventually come up with a solution to control this stuff, looking at ALL the options available.

Dang I should have known that was you talking about the salinity of the river  lo

I wonder if it would help to start a not-for-proffit group, such as the Lake Bisteneau Preservation Society, and try to raise some funds to help the State with buying chemicals, or organizing groups to help trim tree limbs.  I would be happy to help on the legal paperwork.
