9-13-05 Structure/cover and how you fish it

In cypress trees I like to fish a chuggin or poppin plug next to the trees and knees in the mornin.

When I am searching out bass in shallow laydowns I will throw a light jig with small trailer.  Sometimes black/blue and other times rootbeer/camo.

When working the banks close to cover I like to throw either a jig-n-pig or worm lightly weighted.  Throw up onto the bank and sometimes slowly work the lure into the water and then other times I will bring it in quickly to make a splash.  The bass always dictate.

In the matts of foating plants like hyacinth and water lettuce. I pitch and flip brn/blk jigs with junebug craw trailers in the holes in the matts.

When sight fishin bedding bass I cast a texas rigged lizard past the beds then slowly drag the bait across the area.

At night I fish a black Jitterbug thru the stump flats and cypress trees.

On laydown trees on shorelines I cast a texas rigged pumkin /pepper Magnum tube down the sides of the tree.

My favorite, rocky structure.  Often you can find me working finesse worms, spinnerbaits, jigs, grubs, crankbaits, buzzbaits, surface plugs, and the list goes on and on.  I have caught SM and LM bass using almost every type of lure on rocks.  The best spots are wherever there is a sharp sudden drop.  You just work a lure right off the ledge and BAM.

On pepper and eel grass flats I slow roll a char./wht. spinner bait just under the surface.

Early mornings I like to cast a white buzzbait thru the pads and spatterdock.

In heavy hydrilla I drag a texas rigged junebug colored ribbon tailed worm along the edges of boat trails.
