Need help! Transducer on Z-7

Has anyone ever mounted a skimmer transducer on the outside of the transom on a Z-7? If so where did you locate it. I am wondering if the way the bottom of the hull has a step to it if that will cause the transducer not to work properly. I was going to try to mount it in the hull on the inside but to get the old one out looks like a nightmare, or is there a different spot inside the hull I could put it.

Why does Nitro sell a 2008 boat the has a transducer with with black connectors? I am trying to swap out the Lowrance X96tx with a Lowrance 334c igps. Is there any connectors that go from black to blue?

I have a nx882, I have a transducer mounted on the flat spot just above the pad where the livewell tubes are. Theres like a small "cove" there just ran the wire up the transom with the rest of the motor wires, into the wire loom then into the boat.
