Help Fishing!!!

My friends and i are all from out of state and just recently decided to try fishing in Colorado.  We have all the right gear and have tried all sorts of stuff but cannot seem to catch fish, no matter where we go. We've tried catfish, carp, bass, trout, pretty much everything.

we live in the boulder-louisville area and really need some advice. any good fishing spots in this area?
if so, what is the best thing to use?

Best piece of advice i can give you is to hitup a local sporting goods store or the Department of wildlife's website and pick up a copy of "Fishing Close to Home".

yeah i was told by the guy at bass pro shops to get that.

i've tried sawhill and golden ponds mostly and no luck. i know those places have bass so i figure i'm doing something wrong

I was frustrated when I started fishing here in Colorado too, but I found the bass to be just like the bass elsewhere (just a little smaller).  But everything works the same here that I've fished in TX and WI.  I think I just had to slow down and find something that would boost my confidence.  So, keep at it and it will turn around for you.

And definitely get the Fishing Close to Home book.  I keep that with me all the time!  I probably need to get the updated version myself.

Unfortunately there's no magic bullet here...you'll just have to put some time in on the water and do some research about bass fishing. The techniques and lures that work anywhere else also work in Colorado.

The "Fishing Close to Home" book is good. A subscription to "In Fisherman" can't hurt either and there are numerous books on bass fishing out there. One that I read recently was called "Knowing Bass" by Keith Jones. Take a scientific approach...it has always worked best for me.

The closest thing I can give you to a magic bullet is this....Buy some Senko worms (or one of the knockoffs) and do some internet research on how to fish them, I think there are some videos on rigging and fishing them at Yamamoto's website. You have to fish Senkos pretty slow but if there are bass where you're fishing, they'll probably hit a Senko.

well i went out today and tried sawhill again.

caught 20 or 25 little bluegill with my friends on salmon eggs

and my first bass, a 15" largemouth after just a few casts with an orange swirl-tail grub!
i guess it was just a matter of time before i caught something
