It's getting hot...and without a doubt piers (wood Structure) lay downs and stumps will be holding fish on a shallow pattern...drop to 10 pound test line, 2/0 hooks and 1/4 oz wts or less..even in the mid day bass are there and will hit if not spooked by the big baits..and the 10 pound line will let you feel em even look at it!..Try this...it works...Texas Rig...spit on the worm before casting

I would try that but since I am a dipper I don't think the bass would like a SKOAL flavored worm!!! ~roflmao  But I have heard a lot of "experienced" fishermen tell me that since I started fishing a long time ago. It has something to do with the composition of saliva and how the fish react to it or something like that.

i mostly fish with plastic worms, i think they're very good lures for bass. i haven't been fishing that long, but 95% of the bass i've caught were on plastic worms.

I find it very interesting how just a couple of states to the west fishing seems to be so different. I have found that I needed to do just the opposite of what you described!! I have went up on line size, larger hook size (up to a 5/0!) and have had better luck with the magnum sized worms over here in Georgia. And no spittin' here!
Its all good in my book because I am not into all that finesse fishing stuff. Until these fish over here start getting stubborn, I am gonna throw the large stuff at 'em... I enjoy fishing medium to large baits much better than the tiny stuff.

ronalddipietro

ten four..over here in alexandria la, we have a few clear water lakes that gets PRESSURE!!!..travel west about 90 miles and there is wonderful Toledo Bend Lake!!...Mucky stain water all the way to GIN CLEAR...with endless shoreline and off-shore fishing...I would opt in to the Bigger baits at different lakes,,the more stained..the larger bait..so be it..peace..

get in any dippers car/truck, and you'll be staring at one in the cup holder,or a dixie cup with a napkin stuffed in it.
I wonder if the bass would like Grizzly mint?

Chevy572bb

I didnt know anyone liked Grizzly Mint haha

Little Jon Boat

up North here it's also bigger is better...(at least I've found it to be) I've thrown smaller worms out and know that they're there but no luck, but as soon as you go bigger they attack it, and boy do they love/hate the lizards  ~fff

Just think of ll the money that has been spent, Researching and buying attractants to cover up Human scent and all we needed to do the whole time was put human scent on the bait.  ::)

A friend of mine told me something similar. He always tells me to spit on the worm but I never took him seriously, guess I might try it!

I guess it depends on the spit, one could be putting a realistic slime coat on their bait!   ~roflmao

Do you do it prior to brushing your teeth in the morning?  Before or after coffee?

Bassboss

Kewl! I Or you could also use 15lb flouro!  :-*
Total bass of 2009: 176/ biggest bass of '09: 6.27 lbs (2 of that weight)/bass over 5lbs: 7

fishinfranklin

Around here BIG baits , and its funny how a 10inch bass will attack a 8inch lizzard and no spitting here maybe a lil yum or bang,,
