I saw this picture on another site and thought you guys would enjoy seeing it.  This fish was 26 1/2 inch long 12 1/2ibs.  From what I found that would have beat the State record by almost 2 pounds  ~shade.  I think the current record is 10-12.  It was caught on a farm pond in Iowa.  The guy that posted the picture was from Rock Island but he did not say were the pond was.

I hope to get one half that big on Tuesday when I fish a farm pond that gives up a couple of 6-8lb fish every year.  The best part is it only gets fished about 3 times a year  :)

Did you get out over the weekend??  I made it over to Carlton on Sunday from 6-10.  I caught a few small fish on a floatting rattle trap.  I spent about 2 hours using a big 6" swimbait thinking a big bass or muskie might take it but no luck.  I did see one boat get two muskies.  The first fish followed a kids bait back to the boat but did not take it, then it grabbed a 3" white grub that was hanging into the water lo  It took the kid a while to get it in on his ultralite rod and 8 pound test line.

I have not been to the river in a couple weeks, but I will for sure make it out next week to start finding fish again ;)

No I didn't get out.  We went out Fri night to Carlton and my buddies dad caught a 35" muckie on a figure 8 which was pretty bad ass and I had a follow on a megaspin right at dark, but it was so dark I could barely make it out the fish behind it and when I went into the figure 8 I completely lost sight of it and ended up hitting the fish with my rod tip.  lo

The rest of my free time this weekend was tearing apart the new boat and I did some cleaning and mounted a new depth finder in the champion.  ;D

What did you get for a depth finder?? I actually used my front one for the first time since I hooked it up two years ago.  That tells you how deep the water I fish is most of the time.

I got a lowrance X-91.  Is an older model and I really didn't need it, but I got it pretty cheap.  I had some problems with it today.  I'm wondering if I mounted it correctly in the hull.  It did ok at idle, but as soon as I got on plane I got nothing.  I use my front 1 quiet a bit and it has come in really handy a couple days .  Its not much, but its enough to see stuff on the bottom.  Actually came in handy today.  I was fishing a 5' boat lane and I noticed something odd right on the end of a dropoff and it ended up being a small tree right at the back side of about a 2ft drop and there was some fishing hitting on it.
