Hey Mike,

My dad has a pinnacle inertia baitcast and when he sets the hook, the handle spins backwards, even if he just jerks on the line hard enough it will do it. I was thinking blown anti-reverse, what do you think?

I have two Pinnacle reels that do the exact same thing. I have heard of several others.  the first time mine done it I was "popping" the line to free it from a snag.I got an incredible backlash. It is definitely the anti-reverce bearing.
I don't mind not knowing all the answers, but I keep forgeting the danged questions.

These reels are packed with grease and causes the anti reverse bearings to slip especially under cold conditions. It is easily fixed. Unscrew the handle, turn the reel on its side a tap on it. A bearing will come out. That is not the anti reverse bearing however the bearing under that one is. Place several drops of oil onto the anti reverse bearing. Put the other bearing and washers back in, screw you handle back on and your problems will be fixed. If you are comfortable with taking the whole reel apart I would recommend you do it that way. I took all my pinnacle reels apart and thoroughly cleaned them and removed all the excess grease. I lubed them up and they all work great. I have no idea why they pack so much grease in these reels but they do. If you call the pinnacle warranty department and talk to one of the techs they will tell you the same thing. That's where i learned how to fix the problem. All my baitcasters are pinnacles and since I have done this little trick I have not had a single problem with them.
