I use Spiderwire Stealth on my jig pole...and I use that a bunch....I've had good service with the Stealth but one knock I have on the line is that it fades pretty bad after a few trips to the lake......I use 12# diameter Stealth which has a 50# breaking strength...I use the Moss Green and after some use it will turn almost white...Not a real big issue as I'm usually fishing in stained water and/or around allot of grass...and really don't want to use any type of leader on it either, but would prefer a line that stays a little darker.

Was thinking about trying Power Pro in same size and color but was curious if it fades as bad as the Stealth....

Or any other suggestions on braid brands to try will be appreciated also..

Thanks,
Scottie

Power Pro does fade too but I have never used Spider Wire to be able to compare. Power Pro fades to almost a grey color after a few uses but I don't really worry about it. You could always run a wide sharpie marker over the last few feet to color it again if it bothers you.

I've used PP, Tuf Line & Suffix brands, and they all fade some. I also can't compare to Spiderwire, as I've never tried it either. It doesn't bother me, as long as I can see the line. I don't worry about whether the fish can see it either way. I don't believe they know what it is no matter it's color, and I also don't use a leader.  :)

I have fished several different braids and all seem to fade pretty quickly. What I do is use a black sharpy and color the first few feet before each trip.

good evening,

i agree with the above.....they all fade, however, i use and variety of permenant markers, starting at the hook with black or green for about 1 ", skip 2", then black or blue or green(one inch mark), skip 2" then again and again till i reach the reel..almost looks like camo when i finish......works for me and i fish very clear water.....you can get 'em at wally world (4 colors for about $3)

good luck,

i have used both and can tell you that it does take longer for power pro to fade. i much prefer powerpro to the stealth. frankly i prefer powerpro over all other braids that i have used. you can't beat spectra line. it has a stronger strength do diameter ratio and takes longer to wear.

like the guys said earlier mark the faded line with a sharpie. i use brown, green, or red.
i like to color the line in my reel to give the line a camo effect. i read that it is supposed to confuse the eyes of a bass. seems to work too because i catch plenty of fish in ultra clear water on my braid.

I have been using Stren Super Braid, well until now since they stopped making it. Leave it to Stren to discontinue yet another of my favorite lines. Anyways Stren would look faded on the spool after awhile but as soon as it got wet the dark green would come back.

PS: If anyone knows a Stren rep please send him over my way for I have a baseball bat I want to give him. GRRRRRRRRRRR!!! This is like the 4th time Stren has done this to me. Yeah I know there's Sonic Braid now and it's ok, but it's no Super Braid.

I too find it annoying that braided line fades. Since I only use braid to flip with I use the green Sharpie method of recoloring my Spiderwire. I got lucky the other day though. I stumbled onto an old flippin' reel of mine filled with a very early generation of braided line. We are talking 30 plus years ago. Still strong as ever. It is black, about 8 pound diameter and has got to be in the 50 pound range. It is black through and through, no fading at all. I loaded a spool and added a short Fluro leader. Although this braid is somewhat stiff I am pleased with it so far... considering I am using just 50 feet or so.

I use power pro and spiderwire both as well as trying out Sufix Performance braid this year.  The jury is still out on the Sufix, but I find that the spiderwire actually holds it's color just a little better.  That wasn't true a couple of years ago, PP was the better color retaining line, but but I think they did something to their process and Stealth has improved.

Spiderwire had the code red out now too, and it's better than power pro red as far as color retention.

In the end, it's not going to matter how many breaths you took, but how many moments took your breath away.

Ppro will definitely fade. I have used stealth and liked it a lot and ppro is awesome. Strength and performance wise, I would put them on equal footing. However, Ppro seems "rounder". I think you will like Ppro since you like stealth, but the fading of the line for either is inevitiable. Fortunately, it doesn't bother me, nor from my experience does it seem to affect performance.

use sufix performance braid, nothing is better.

The sharpie trick is the best way to combat the faded line IMO. This year I am giving the yellow PP a shot on my jiggin' stick, but since its so Hi-vis I think I'll color up a few feet so I don't risk spooking the fish.

How long does the Sharpie Color last.
1 trip 10 hrs. or more or less

I usually re-color my line after every other trip depending on how often I retie. It will last pretty long for you.
