Please let me know what y'all think.....and be honest  lo

Poured the lead....

After I cleaned the lead up with my new Dremel, came the painting. I don't have any powder coating stuff (yet!!!) so I used a technique that I found in our "Tips Forum"

Nail Polish.....I used a few coats of color and finished with 2 coats of clear to hopefully make it nice and hard.

Once the painting was complete, it was time to finish them off.

The final product.....Jigs

Spinnerbaits.....

Lookin GOOOOD there BK!!! ~c~ ~c~ ~c~
Love the shape of the jigheads and all your skirts look full and have great colors. Just to add a little something, you might want to add some stick on eyes to the spinnerbaits (and/or jigs :-*), and then clearcoat over them.

This guy has some cool eyes if you're interested- I'd go with 3mm-4.5mm........

No, I just painted the nail polish direct to the lead. I'll be testing these lures on Thursday, so we'll see how well the paint holds up  ::)

BK, the fish won't care, but if you use a white base coat, preferably, opaque white, you'll get a better look to the paint when painting over lead with light colors. Most nail polish is somewhat transparent, and the white will help hide the lead color from coming thru the top coats, so less less coats gets better coverage. My wife uses an opaque white nail polish, so you should be able to stick with nail polish.

Dark colors don't usually matter a lot.

Just a tip, I thought might help on your next batch of lures!  :)

Thanks for the tip bigjim, I did notice the Chartruse color was difficult to cover the lead color. I'll see what base coat my wife can find for me  ;D

Those look pretty darn good Steve, but do yourself a favor and get some powder paint, they will look even better and be a little more durable and smooth.  I know I tried the nail polish route on some jigs for a couple of years and finally bought some powder paint at a Fishing show and sure glad I did, now I just need MORE colors!

Or is that Colours???

Dug
In the end, it's not going to matter how many breaths you took, but how many moments took your breath away.

looks good.  Real good.

But I gotta ask.  So did you or your wife/gf get the nail polish from the store? :)

LOL Dug  lo  I stopped using colours right after I joined UB  lo
You are right about the powder paint v's nail polish, and as soon as I find some powder paint locally I will start using it, but until then I will just continue to use the nail polish.

We both went shopping together and I stood back and acted like I wasn't interested and whispered yes or no when she picked up a certain color  lo lo
