Hey again all,  I am hving issues with my jackplate working and then not working.  Since I had got the triton tr18 in sept last year it has worked fine.  A few months ago i noticed the jackplate would not work when i was pulling it out of the water on teh trailer.  but then at teh house  after i parked it it worked fine.  This sporaticness happened for  the last 2 months or so.  Yesterday it would not work at all, and I needed it more than I ever did  as I ran into some really shallow/ Sand bar areas, and it le t me down.

Is there anyone who can help me troubleshoot to see if the motor is gone if hydraulics or eletrical.  I am pretty handy but know nothing about the jackplate.
Thanks
Marc

What kind of jackplate do you have? Internal or external reservoir?

Seems to be a self contained unit.    on one side it says fluid  fill  right in the middle of the jackplate.  could it just be out of fluid?  I do not know how to troubleshoot it or how it really works.  I am looking online but  nothing is decribing its actual operation
.  I hit the lever that goesup and down and i hear a relay click, but it sounds like it is coming from the on board charger???

I am posting this just for info for anyone else who has a problem.  I got it to work for now anyway.  Got ahold of TH marine and he gave me some tips.  I found out it runs on a -12vdc and +12vdc  as up and down.  I checked all wiring by disconnecting it before it ran into my on board charger.  I put a meter to it and hit the switch.. worked like a champ.  So a friend at work said to pop it with a mallet  that maybe  a servo or somethign is a littel stuck.  i poppe dit a few times and wouldn't you know it..  it works fine right now.
It  being a sealed unit i am leary of taking it apart to clean it  so i am going to ride it till it bucks me!!

Good deal! Sounds like a little galvanic corrosion might be starting. Easy fix- just use it more often ;)! lo

IF RAPPING ON THE MOTOR WOKE IT UP PROBABLY THE BRUSHES WERE STUCK IN THE MOTOR... THIS USUALLY HAPPENS DUE TO MOISTER INTRUSION IN THE MOTOR, AND ITS PROBABLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE YOU WILL NEED TO REPLACE IT.. FREQUENT USE WILL PROLONG ITS LIFE, NEW MOTORS ARE AVAILABLE, WE DO NOT RECOMMEND REBUILDING THAT MOTOR..

thanks chris
I was using it today and it just quit again.  So i am sure I will need a replacement.  I am scared at how much this is gonna cost.  I called th marine and he was saying something about  one thing is 200 bucks and a cable harness which I would not need is 85.00  but the entire  new one was 650 or so. Is it around 200 for the entire box int eh back there???  any idea
