Anyone have any things they think Legend should change?

About 15 years ago I came up with the retracting running lights. Never did anything with it just had the idea. Now they have them on some boats. Could have probly made some money with that if I would have got off my lazy butt and actually put the idea to work. I come up with these types of things all the time. Maybe I should get in the boat building industry, well at least in the innovation side of it. lo

Jason SLOW DOWN .... you're a speed freak LOL you know, now that you mention it that happened to me in that boat as well. I started carrying the net in the passenger rod area and wedged it against the side of the seat to solve it.

Doesn't happen in this one?

Jared? That's a neat idea. I wonder why it hasn't been designed already for boats? You might jump very quickly all over that :o

I know I know...ill slow it down  ~beer~

Here is one...and maybe this is just happend to me....

When alone and running in rough water....my passenger sit flips open....there is nothing I can do....I just keep flipping it back closed....but a couple seconds later it flips back up...maybe some kind of latch or lock..

Happend to anyone else?

Yep, Mine starts at about 55mph.  It is kind of aggrevating.  ^-^

I know the 2010 seats and newer are the gel pack and are heavier. I don't have this problem with mine. That said the seats are still a veer snug fit, you have to get pretty serious to pull them up. So maybe it's been adresses with a tighter fight and heavier seat.

It was all Aero.  It was probably corrected with the Newer console.

From what I have seen,  all the other changes I would make have already beeen addressed in the Late model Alphas.

danisfish

The seat coming up, did that happen on dual and single console or just single console where the wind could hit it?

-Shawn-

It does it on My DC, But I have an LE.   It is just the way the wind comes over the visor I think.   :-\

danisfish

Is there anything to do on the le to prevent it? I ask because I am in the process of buying a 21 LE and have not driven the boat alone to know if it happens or not.

BIG PAPA

Is this a big deal?
Dan with my big AZZ in it it will not flip up ~roflmao ~roflmao

Mike Cork

Never was a big deal to me. Nothing ever came out. Didn't do it on all boats?

I am just getting excited about getting my boat. Wish I could get it just so I can start organizing stuff and getting ready to fish out of it. Been a while for me having my own boat and being able to lay my hands on everything.

I'm pretty excited about it. Looking forward to joining the legend family.

The back deck does not feel solid.  There is a little give on that big lid over the bilge compartment and I only weigh 185lbs..  Maybe it would be best if there were 2 lids instead of 1 big one with a support beam that ran down the center.  That would also help you to be able to get to the bilge area while on the water since you can open just 1 side and lay on the other.

There are several other areas that I think could be improved on but look like they were addressed in the Alpha series? Such as;
You can't easily see the console mounted graph due to steering wheel blocking it..graph needs raised.

The glove box is nice sized but the opening is tiny.

Some kind of non skid pad/sticker with Legend logo for the bow so you don't bust your behind when stepping in and out from bow.

The center fold down step/seat gives way way to much when folded down and stepping on it.  I would permanently mount the back lower and have the bottom flip down and have a step underneath it.  Also the strap that buttons and holds the back down, doesn't hold it down, so the seat just flips back up while towing or running down lake.  I had my phone in that cup holder and almost lost it when the seat flipped up while I was running.   I just rest my elbow on it for now, but will often be adjusting my GPS with my right arm and steering with my left or using 2 hands on the wheel when running wide open.

Re-train the guy that did the carpeting on my boat.  All the seams are on the exposed corners and are coming apart (and also un glued) and the carpet is falling everywhere (under consoles, storage lockers, recessed trolling motor tray, and rod lockers) It all needs re-glued.

I bought danisfish's LE21.  I only have about 4 hours actually on the lake with it so far and about 3 in my driveway.  These were just some of the things that jumped out at me.  So far I like the boat and think it rides great, but it needs some tweaks.  I think I'm going to have the day box installed up front, pad the deck and re-carpet the whole thing.  Didn't realize how much I would miss the day box that was on my last rig.

Very few Legends in my neck of the woods here in South Central Texas (everyone runs Skeeters here), so I've gotten allot of stares and a few different guys  have approached me to look over the boat.  They all loved it.

Mike Cork

Wow, you do have some issues?  The carpet can't be blamed on Legend though if you are a second owner. You have no idea what that carpet has been through, oil, fish attactant, high pressure washer, things that no glue will hold up too.  Something falling under a console sure but edges, I wouldn't put that on them.

The rear deck lid?  I'm 215 and don't flex it at all?  I've had an LE series but don't remember if there was an issue there.  The Alpha's I've had don't.

The glove box  lo  I have to chuckle because the LE models were what I call a "Monkey Trap"  reach in and grab something then your fist is to big to remove it.  A monkey won't let go of what they have so they are trapped, hence my pet name.  This has been changed about 3 years ago.

You must have a worn out snap for your strap on the center seat?  Not sure what you are saying about the permanently mounted back, if it's permanent you'd have to make it so small that it wouldn't be useful? To tall and you would trip over it?  Legend does now offer just a step in that spot  :-*  You've been previously heard ~c~

Legend loves to hear from the field, if you have an issue that wasn't addressed in the Alpha Series definitely bring it up ~c~  You've got some great points here.  Gonna have to check into that deck lid though? What year is your rig?

It is a 2007 LE21.  Don't get me wrong, I like the boat and I am not complaining, these were just things I noticed.  I know the glove box issue was addressed.  That huge lid on the back deck on mine definitely flexes.  I bet it I could get it to bow 1-2"s if I lightly bounced on it.

As for a wish list, I would like adjustable live well timers and that little day box on the driver side with the 12V receptacle could be much bigger.  I can't be sure but I don' think my iPhone will fit in there and if I stick it in the glove box, I may not find it again.   :)

It looks like the Alpha series has everything I dreamed of and more.  There were  several guys in a bass club that I often fish against that have wanted to look at one, but there just isn't many (or any) in this area that we could find unless we wanted to drive 1-2hrs.  I've seen a few on the lakes though.

P.S check out the center step seat in a Skeeter ZX225.  I think it is ideal.  As with anything, it is just going to take some getting use to when switching brands, models, etc.  I welcome it though and I know I will be happy with my decision.

Mike Cork

That's a lot of flex.  I can assure you that's not an issue any more.

The driver side glove box is as big as it can get without shifting the seat?  Then the consol would have to shift as well?  There was some space there so they put a lid on it :-*

An adjustable time would be cool but the 2 on 2 off they have now works great and I've never had a battery issue.  I think you find it works great.  Being able to adjust the time, how you would you adjust it?

Having an Alpha, I would like to see a step pad on the front as well, the gel coat is pretty, but slick when you step on it.  I would also like to see an adjustable livewell timer.  2 and 2 works good and haven't had a problem with battery either, but would like to see a 2-5-7 timer.  My only 2 complaints was I wish they had made the center storage compartment the same level as the rest of the front deck, and I wish they would make a quick detach set up for the passenger console.   I have a single console and the small step down has been a tripping hazard because you are not always stepping up and down between dual consoles, and having a quick detach passenger console would benefit when I am on open water and running long distances would be nice to have something for your co-angler to get behind and when you are on a river system fishing and moving around alot, it would benefit being able to have the extra space.  The newer Alpha's have taken care of some other problems such as being able to fit larger graphs in the consoles and day boxes.  Mine doesn't have the day box, and I liked the idea, just don't care for the location.  Would seem to be in just the spot where your rod handles would be.  My Tidecraft had one directly behind the seat post and was the width of the center compartment door, I liked it, but you had to spin around to the back of your seat to get to it and it shortened up your main center compartment door by about 8-10 inches.  It was only about 4 inches deep so you still had storage under it accessable from your main center compartment door.  I really like the rod storage for your passenger, no rods beating up your top cap and out of the way from your coangler.  My seats are not the Gel seats and they do fine about staying down, I can tell you, even though my boat is a 211, I really enjoy the single console, I know it leaves your passenger/co-angler out in the wind and sometimes rain but it sure does feel like there is ALOT more room without it, goes back to why I say there should be a quick detachable one.
Give a man a Fish and He will eat for a Day, Teach a Man to Fish and He will Join a Bass Club and spend Way too much $$$$$$

Tamale

As far the adjustable livewell timer, I would to be able to recirculate only in timed intervals (great when you have added chemicals) or I could have it t pump water in only in timed intervals, or I could have it do both at timed intervals..

Mike Cork

Tamale, you should be able to recirculate in timed intervals. It's set up so you can just for the reason you stated, to keep your chemicals or cooled water from the outside.  However if you wish you can pump in fresh water as well.  We can work through a different thread and I can walk you through how to set up your livewell valve and your console switches to make these things happen :-*

~Dwight~  You do know that the step down issue can be fixed by ordering the adapter from Legend ?

They have also built in the removable console idea as well. It's boat in but only takes a few seconds to remove or install.  Uses permanently mounted nuts.

The new day box will have rod handles over it. But unfortunately where are you going to put something like that? For us maniacs that carry 14 rods on deck you will have to move them around to get in it.  But if you only need 5-6 rods on deck it wont be an issue.

I'll definitely forward the issue about an "Adjustable" timer and see what they think.  I bet it's already an option but the standard is 2 and 2.

To get a back deck lid that was split in two, you'd have to have a cross beam in the middle to support it.  With the solid gas tank, you'd never be able to remove it?  The one piece gas tank is part of the fantastic ride of the boat, having the weight centered.  Just thinking out loud.  It is difficult to get in that compartment if you need to on the water.  I've just been lucky and not needed too.  So I'm on the other side of the fence where I think it's great to have such easy access to the compartment when on the trailer.  Checking batteries, cleaning terminals, checking oil level it's all easy to do from standing outside the boat.

I love my Alpha's and can't come up with anything to change?  Unless it's go back to letting us do custom fades :-* but that ain't gonna happen ~roflmao Too many variables, too many chances to get it wrong.  I totally understand why they don't let us do that anymore.
