Anyone have any things they think Legend should change?

I think they make a great boat that has Performance and quality not seen by other boats... But i have found the consoles to be to small for anyone over 6ft tall and the vent for the fuel tank fills up with water which makes it hard to refill with gas. Anyone think of anything of had that we can let Legend know of?

I got one.  How bout lower prices so I can afford one of them bad A$$ rigs.  lo  Seriously never rode in one, but I think they look awesome and you can tell they have put alot of work into them.  When I decide to get a new rig 'll definately be testing driving a few.

Actually the price can be much lower than the top brands ;)

I am on my third Legend and the company has made leaps and bounds in the area of fisherman comfort and design. Legend takes feedback very well ~c~

I am only 5-10 and the fit of the boat is awesome for me. I have heard that folks in the 6-1 and up range find the consoles a little small.

As far as the fuel vent hole, my first boat had this problem but my second did not. I guess it's hit or miss. I talked with Legend about this and they said it's because of the way the tank is made and they were going to talk with the tank manufactures to see what they could come up with. Currently the vent for the fuel tank is right next to the fill up on the tank so it's easy for splash back to get into the vent. Simple fix would be to move the vent on the tank to the other side of the tank. But that takes a complete remolding of the tank.... More to come on that.

My biggest issues with the 08' model was the seats, in rough water you could feel the cross support bar in them. However I just used an 09' model and they have re done the seats and they are awesome.

Great thread Alpha 199.

I have an 21le and the only thing I would change is maybe make the console a little taller  to block the wind .  I haven't got to ride in an Aplha but I have to say I realy liked the consoles a LOT more in the LE .

BassBUFF

I just wish the windshields were an inch taller with a little more curve on my LE195 :). At 6'1" the wind still hits my face. They could also do the same for the Alpha series and it wouldn't hurt my feelings lo!

:-* Why not make it an option?? :-* Time to call Dean!

I haven't had the fuel vent issue on mine.

When i went with Noble to pick up his boat and climbed in that was the 1st thing I said,, well actually the 1st thing I said was how in the hell am I supposed to get behind this thing?  ~xyz          ~roflmao lo ~roflmao

However while I was there they were working on a few other new boats and when I took the tour "great guys by the way" they were making new consoles that didn't go straight across but had a nice 2 - 2.5 inch curve up where we put our legs.  Didn't get to sit behind one of them but I did tell them that was great because I couldn't get in Mike's.  They took the time to walk back out with me to watch how I sat and checked it over to make sure the ones they were working on would fit better.  Not sure if they put them in or not but if they didn't raise them up about 3 inches they do need a modification for us big guys.

The only other thing I would change and don't own one  :embarassed: :embarassed: is to keep the width farther up on the front deck; I have a Nitro 929 and it has a landing strip for a front deck  lo

The best thing is that you have a direct link to Legend right here and when making suggestions or comments they do take the time to notice    ~c~ ~c~

Great topic Josh....Keep the ideas coming.  As for the console issue, for the latest '09 boats, (some early 09's didn't have them), the consoles have been re-molded to raise them another 2-3" from where they were previously, for even more kneeroom.  There should be no issues at all for anyone behind the console of an Alpha boat now.  There have actually been 3 "generations" of consoles in the Alphas, first, the straight cut consoles, then the higher cut ones with the dip in the center for the steering, and now the new altogether redesigned ones.

Also, the vent that we used on some of the early '09 boats with the external vent inside the splashwell has been changed to a self vented aluminum cap. Josh, if you need this fix, let me know and I will have the changeover equip. shipped out.

I would say they could improve the navigation lights the sockets seem a little hard to deal with i have to fiddle with mine to get the light to work.I believe there are higher quality light sockets out there.
the front light could be receased in the front and mounted permanent to the front of the boat. Under the trolling motor.

Just my two cent's :-*

Russ199A

I would agree with you on the aft light socket. I've noticed on the LE models, they didn't have that problem. It seemed that the light pole fit smug and went in about a 1/2 inch deeper. On mine, the socket seems too loose and I have to twist the Aft light pole to get the pins to make contact. If I am in rough water, my light quits. Going back to the LE models' socket may be a good idea.

That's something else we've changed again....to a design that's actually easier even than the LE's were.  We went to a base that has a spring loaded clip that holds the light pole in place;  just slide the clip back to install and remove the light....it's a very secure and easy setup.

The setup acts similar to the latching mechanism on top of the coupler on the trailer if that makes sense.

when you guys refer to the nav lights do u mean the all around white light also ?cause i have lost one already ~rant and nearly lost the second just the other day   i cant ever get the sleeve to go all the way down  to hold the pole in-place ....just wondering .........other than that I LOVE MY LEGEND KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK TEAM  ....i had a non boater for b.f.l  a couple weeks ago and toledo was horrible and he kept saying all day dude i love this boat " we would be soaked in my boat" if we were in my  ~shhh RANGER  :'(  YOU WOULD BE CUSSING ME RIGHT NOW... made me proud to be in a LEGEND

~shhh Be careful not to mention brand names. Some people who don't own Legends can get really ~xyz ssed-off about that. Just say ,the other boat!  Remember if it's not a Legend it's just another boat.

Hey Kody, do you know whether the new aft socket will mount in place of the older one? A one for one swap??? I'd like to get the new design before I end up loosing a light pole like LB.

I know this is an old thread, but I wish Legend would put in a build in ladder so I can get my butt out of the water in case I fall

where did you get the step at. I like that, is simple and looks that it should work

I would have had the battery/gas tank compartment hinged at the back and open toward the front of the boat...makes it difficult to access things in that compartment while on the water.

I thought that at first too but it sure is nice when it's on the trailer not to have to work around the door? Kinda goes either way on that one

I am up in the air on this one too.  Having the 36V  TM I can't store anything back there.  But if you have a Battery or Pump Issue while on the water it is hard to get too.  But then if it opened the other way you could onl get to it from the side .  :-\

Mike Cork

Preventative maintenance !!!! Don't want to have issues on the water anyway.

It happens, if you fish tournaments you fish hard and your equipment works.

I look my stuff over every night before going out and have been very lucky and not had issues on the water :o Legend has been very good to me. But same can be said if the door opened the other way. I haven't had to spend any amount of time in the bay so really I don't know which would be more effective?

Use a pop off type hindge, that way it doesn't matter. It would still open on the hindge the way it does now but if you had to access it from inside the boat you just unlock the hindge and remove the door. When you done simply place door back and lock the hindge back. Now problem solved. ;)

Here is one...and maybe this is just happend to me....

When alone and running in rough water....my passenger sit flips open....there is nothing I can do....I just keep flipping it back closed....but a couple seconds later it flips back up...maybe some kind of latch or lock..

Happend to anyone else?

Jason SLOW DOWN .... you're a speed freak LOL you know, now that you mention it that happened to me in that boat as well. I started carrying the net in the passenger rod area and wedged it against the side of the seat to solve it.

Doesn't happen in this one?

Jared? That's a neat idea. I wonder why it hasn't been designed already for boats? You might jump very quickly all over that :o
