Garrison's Lake - 3/28/09

1st club tourney of the Spring yesterday at Garrison's, and our first time there, my 2nd. Water temps were 53-54, it rained nearly all day, with a light to moderate wind. 8 boats in all with 11 anglers. I found a pair early throwing the Explosive Tackle Spinnerbait in "woops"y Shad just all over the pond, no real pattern as this place is so shallow. 1st was on the cove at the north shore east end near spillway, 2nd came from up the lake on the south shore (see what i mean???).

My partner and i got on good fish later in the day on the more dense pad field in the middle of the lake. You'll know it when you see it, more pads than the others. Fish were taking black/blue fleck Alluring Baits 5" Salty Trick Stick. We were pretty much drifting the baits (casting upwind, drifting to us) through the pads. It wasn't long before we had company, but our club has a nice little 100ft rule, so they had to keep their distance somewhat.

I finished in third with 3 fish for 5.60lbs, my partner finished 2nd with 3 for 6.36lbs. Winner had the kicker with 4 fish weighing 9.35lbs...all on spinnerbaits (Explosive Tackle Perch). His lunker was 3.98lbs.

Sorry for putting it on ya so bad at Garrison's!!! You will have to try to take the momentum back at the Potomac!

Man oh Man... That tourny kicked my butt!!! I still have shoulder stiffness from through a spinnerbait. Glad to see Explosive Tackle bring yall to the scales! Good luck on the potomac and I hope you and josh do well. I did a tweeked color for him that you'll see friday. Looks pretty good. might have to add it to the collection. Your "secret weapons" have been completed. Going to give you a few other things to try also if your up for the task.
