I purchased a CLTX MH 7"3  Carrot Stix in Jan. I have fished with it on 6 different trips to the lake.....I have caught several bass on the rod all the way from 2 to 5lb and the rod handles great under a load....It is a strong rod and well built....

The hook keeper is not very impressive....The guides are built on the spine they are sturdy and smooth. The Carrot Stix IMO is not equal to the G.loomis Cara or the Crucial ( rods I own ) when it come to sensitivity.....

Topcat thanks for the review....

In the end, it's not going to matter how many breaths you took, but how many moments took your breath away.

I'll be the first person....... lo

The Carrot Stick is very sensitive. It may be the model you have. I have the 6'9" MH Parabolic and you can almost feel the fish breathing on it lo. I have never experimented with the other models and have only owned quantum's. Never picked up a shimano crucial in my life. I probably have no place saying anything about sensitivity about e21's vs. crucials but what the heck....it's just my opinion.

I'll weigh in on this, I have the 6'9'' MH-F Carrott stix and it is every bit as sensitive as my St. Croix Avid or Fenwick.  I have a Loomis GL that wouldn't hold a candle to the Carrott Stix in overall weight or sensitivity.  I also have 2 Kistler's that are both less sensitive than either the Carrott Stix or the St. Croix.  I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder.  I love my Carrott Stix paired up with a Revo Premier for castability, light weight, and ease of fishing.  That's my 2 cents worth.

Jared, with that being my old rod, I'll tell you that you need to fish a Crucial and a Cumara. That rod and my others didn't go up for sale for nothing. lo

I sold many of the rods you mentioned, along with my CS's to go Shimano.

Topcat, you review is spot on IMO. :-*

I have 2 Carot Stix and the reason I bought the second one was because I thought the first one was awesome.

The first one is a 7'0" Ex H that I use for frogs, c-rigs and flippin' jigs. I found it was extremely sensitive when a bass picked up a jigs very gently.

My second one is a 6'9" M parabolic and I have only used it twice, but so far haven't had a single bite with it  :( :(  but I love the feel of the rod and the way it casts. I'll add more once I manage to catch a bass on it  ~cf

Shimano's, I am sure, are good rods. I just love my Quantum Superlites to much to switch. If this Carrot Stick don't start catching me some bass it's gonna be up for sale.

Jared, if you decide to sell, let me know.

I would not begin to argue what a person feels is a more or less sensitive rod in their opinion, for each their own. I will say in my preference I prefer the C-Sitx for which I have 5 of rangeing from 6'9" MH to 7'6' heavy. I also own 2 Shimano Cumaro in 7'2", that I would have a really hard time deciding between the two. I have tried Kistler and Allstars and sold both for C-Stix.

Well, E21 snagged me again. After talking with the rep at the Classic expo, he told me that I indeed needed to try a "gold" series before I made final judgment on the CS's. It was tough to buy another after not really liking my LTX's, but I decided to give the premium series a try. The expo had the golds on sale for $179, which was almost to hard to pass up. Unfortunately Shimano didn't have that kind of deal going or I'd have another Cumara. I'm liking the cork grip on the golds a lot better than the EVA on the LTX's, and I'm able to balance it with the removeable butt cap. I ended up with a MH/Fast 7'er, but really wanted the same in a Heavy, but they sold out early. We'll see how this one does tomorrow or Tues. and report back. At this point, I hope no one thinks I'm biased to Shimano. It took everything I had to carry around that orange thing around in the expo all day. lo

Dug

Can't wait to read your report.  You know the prototype for these was the green edge version. I wished they would have stuck withat forest green.  Say what you will though, they are easily recongizable!

Yea, that green was pretty cool, but I like the translucent orange they use on the golds. Much better than the flat orange on the LTX's.
