Great article Mike, and so true. I think we all have a few stories of the one that got away because of something we overlooked. I certainly have a few.

Fishing The Fall Transition by "Papa"
I think this article hit the nail on the head. This year though I caught fish all summer long in big lily pads. I mean good fish, not dinks. These fish were in 5' or less. Surface water temp was in the mid 80's. It's against everything I have ever read. I have always been able to find a couple here & there in shallow water when it got hot, but this year they were all over. Most of the fisherman were out in the deep water I hardly ever saw a bass boat in the shallow water. There were plenty of flat head minnows in the pads so I guess that is why they never moved. The only other thing is the water temperature only dropped to 45 degrees for less than a month this past winter so I guess there was not as much die off. Did anyone else notice this? Any theories?

I love fall fishing, just wish it would get here

we hit over 100 three days last week

Had one day this week that only got up to 80 so maybe it won't be long for us

if it rains, pray for constant drizzle...makes it tough for the steelies to see us on the bank...and makes for very good chinook fishing too!

I've had jeans on for three days I know the shorts will be back out but I love it when jeans and a jacket or sweatshirt are in order. Took a jacket out on the lake last night and was glad I did.
40's at night 70's during the day maybe an 80 this weekend.
