XR6 on triton TR18

1999 triton Tr18 with a Merc XR6. i have a hydraulic jackplate on it. one thign that is concernign me is the kick out (at least that is what I am calling it). when wot at time when i am trimming it up or what not it will kinda kick the boat out. kinda like a fish tail in a car. Any ideas? Am i doing somethign wrong... which is what I am guessing?

This is my first boat other than a jon boat and Ihave had this one since sept or so of last year, so I am fairly new to this stuff. Any help would be appreciated.

When ya have a hydraulic jackplate ya need a water pressure guage (especially if your new ta performance type boats). Tha "kick out" I think your describin' is probably from runnin' tha trim out to far, and/or motor to high.....T

hi Marc; sounds like motor is to high. is it back of the boat going to the right.or back and forth?

now that i think of it i am not 100 percent sure which side it kicks out. I would be guessing if i said one way or the other, but i would say to the left it will kick out but i could be wrong. man i should have wrote it down. I am going to keep the motor further down in the water and see what happens. its just some of these places are pretty shallow so i am moving it up and down a lot. normally i use it so that the crossbar is even with the top of the transom. That is what the guy i bought it from said he always ran it at. But maybe it is a little too high. I should get out this weekend and i will try it out.

marc. I am set at 3 to 3and a quart below pad. with my set up.Do you have a guage for th jack plate. The kicking back and forth, could be chine walk...

No idea wut u mean 3 by 3 and a quart below pad. No there is no guiage for the jack plate. I am going to go today and run it and keep the jackplate lower than normal. as long as i reach my top speed of 60mph it will be fine. Ill let ya know later today or tomorrow.

Pretty sure he's saying the propshaft to pad distance is 3 3/4 inches. You would measure this on the boat.
