When fishing a winding creek it seems that the fish will often hold on the bends just at the edge of the creek as long as the depth is sufficient. What is your theory as to why one bend will often hold fish and another will not?

Lets say you are on a new lake , you have fished shallow, fished a few docks mostly shallow, you have tried some deeper structure and nothing. now lets say that this lake pretty much does not have a lot of cover, little to no grass, wood etc.
Would you go back over the same areas with different baits colors or what?
