Guys, when i took over this board, i was pretty much the only one painting crankbaits.  It is really good to see that folks are picking it up.  Alot of painters have migrated over here and their knowledge and shortcuts they have shared has created one of the busiest boards on UB.  Its great to hear about folks catching fish on their baits, the trials and errors we have all had one time or another that happen to a new painter (like Tightlinez epoxy incident.....been there, done that....use laquer thinner, it will clean any and everything in large amounts!)

Dont think the tackle companies don't look here either....they do.......my buddy Brandon and I came up with a pattern called "Cash Cow"......Bandit has a pattern called "Mad Cow"........the only difference is they have a red throat..

Alot of the experienced guys like JRHopkins, Cracker, Big M and others that have slipped my mind have put forth some incredible works of art.  Tacklemaking is alot like the sport of fishing.  the more folks we can get into it, the better.  Keep up the good work guys.......

I'm not much of a painter but do enjoy looking at the works many have posted.....

I became fascinated with a post on hear a year or so back on powder coating jigs using homemade fluid beds.....so took that ball and ran with it....

Lots of fun creating my own jigs....and catching fish on them too... :)

TightLinez

Thanks jav and we'd love to see some of your new work sometime. It took me about 30min. to get it fixed up with a little bit of acetone and sanding, but I got it all worked out. lo So you're saying Strike King really did steal my pattern!?!? ~xyz ~rant
;D Just kidding......
I'm hoping some of the other members out there that are in to this kind of stuff will pick it up too. We can all learn from each other and figure out some new tips and tricks. ~cf

thanks Tightlinez, i am slowly getting things up and running.  after my 4 1/2 month trip to the Desert and getting home only to find myself moving my family and everything i own to Fla a week later, i am slowly but surly getting things together.  i am fishing a pretty hetic tournament schedule with the BWS and then Swede and I are fishing the Media Bass circuit.  I have everything pretty much ready to start back up, i just need to put my bait hangers up.  I have built a pretty cool workbench and working on a tutorial for the site with this creation.  i'll be back up and running in a bit.........

TightLinez

Sounds good man. Thanks again for your service ~flag! I'm in the process of getting my work station built. Once you get settled, I'd love to see some pics of yours so I can get some more ideas. At least you may not need a couple space heaters around your workbench. lo I'm looking forward to that tutorial.

That's the nail on the head Jav.

My only problem is that I've sort of gravitated towards building rods over baits.  ;)

I just don't see that as a problem Hesjustbassin, in fact I find it just as interesting as the lure builders> Keep up t he good work!

In the end, it's not going to matter how many breaths you took, but how many moments took your breath away.

I may have some materials for that project for cheap that came in a deal when I bought some other small companies out last year. I know I have some lead molds down in the shop I will never use. Shoot me a pm when you are ready. I think I have skirts, wire, everything you would need to start.

Thanks guys. If you ever have any ideas of what you'd like to see, post it up! One of the hardest parts is thinking up new patterns...... sorry though katman I don't think Createx makes a "Chicken Liver" color. ~roflmao

No, not yet. Not a lot of perch around these areas. The closest I've done to a perch is a bluegill. lo

Jay, if Silver is still over there, you could mail them to him, its an APO address, that would be pretty cheap, then he could take them to BK and charge him double for it, or atleast a couple OB's or shots of soju for his troubles
