I guess it's not about the fishery but what you do with it :-*

So, what do you all think about KVD's crown being cut short. He only gets to be the World Champion for 6 months instead of the full year (of course unless he wins again :-* ) but do you think it is going to hurt how much money in sponsorships and endorsements he could get :-\

How are they going to qualify in this short of time for the next classic?

I am not sure how it all went down, but I know certain positions qualified for both when they made this one :-* Now as far as the federation guys, I don't know, doesn't seem like there will be time. I will have to do some digging for sure, but I know that many of the guys that made it this time have automatic spots in the Feb. event too :o

Mike..................

I am pretty sure KVD will do just fine.  It is a short lived crown though.  There is one way to ensure that it goes on for longer.................

Team Illinois - All but like 5 of the spots are already sewn up for next years Classic.  I know this through talking with Randy.  He still has a shot to qualify thru the Opens.

I think they take a champion from each Open division. North, South, East, West, Central.

Randy could qualify thru the South.

The 2006 Classic field will be comprised of 42 anglers, as follows:

— CITGO Bassmaster Angler of the Year
— Top 10 finishers from the 2005 Classic
— Top 10 anglers from the 2005 Bassmaster Elite 50 Series
— Top 5 anglers from the 2005 CITGO Bassmaster Open Championship
— 6 BASS Federation regional champions (up from 5 qualifiers to reflect addition of one division for 2005 season)
— ESPN Outdoors Bassmaster Series Champion

The remainder of the field will be selected from the top-ranked pros on the CITGO Bassmaster Tour. In the event of double qualifiers, BASS will invite the top-ranked anglers from the 2005 CITGO Bassmaster Tour points standings who are not otherwise qualified. The 2005 Angler of the Year will be doubly rewarded with an automatic berth in both the 2005 and 2006 Classics.

By the way - planning on being on Toho watching and fishing in Feb.  Just too much excitement to be watching from the house.  Likely to go from Lightest weight in this BMC to the most weight ever weighed in next.  They have got some really big toads in that chain of lakes.  Roughly 33-35 miles from one end to the other.

I'm gonna talk to Sharon and we might go, heck its a hop, skip and jump from where we live.
We fish Lake Kississmmee, and the town of Kississimmee is right next to our county, won't be to bad, not more than a couple of hours.  :-*

7 hours for me but not often the BMC gets to Florida.  It may get here more often in future from sounds of things.  Especially with HQ in Orlando near Disney Parents.

Are you coming Swede?

We'd look forward to meeting you that's for sure!!

Just read that KVD says that his Biosonix unit was a factor in winning the Classic and his last tour win.  I know that there is no rules on this yet, but I hope that there will be.  Not sure if I like the idea of such a device being used unless everybody was using one.

I read he was using it in his last three wins . Hes 3-0 since he started using it. What an awesome invention ... I applaud the guy who came up with it but Im sorry it should be outlawed for tournament use in my opinion. Something about it seems dirty to me.

bass1cpr

That's the idea of marketing getting everyone to buy one. Should they be allowed in tournaments? I don't feel they should be. Everyone had the same concerns when the underwater cameras came out. Electrically stimulating fish now were messsing with their heads.   :o   ~fff   :surrender:

Well that item should could become a must have, especially if KVD was using only in his last 3 tournaments........................in which he just happen to win.

WOW :shocking: that could be P-O-W-E-R-F-U-L for Biosonix.

The fishing industry sure is changing.

By the way Bman................where did you read that?

Wow I didn't even know they had such a thing.. I checked their website http://www.biosonix.com and it says right on first page after intro .. KVDs LAST 3 Wins he used it.. this sure seems like it needs to be BANNED ASAP..  I says its cheating ..   I mean whats next are they gonna start chumming the water???

blake711

Oh I almost forgot.. I was watching the coverage.. on ESPN and ESPN2.  All I kept seeing was some tv show wehre people were fishing against some annoying dude from Boston.   Then when they showed actual coverage they didn't even show teh fishers hardly.  I flipped over to Fox sports Southwest and they were showing an FLW tournament at one point.. The coverage of it was much better in my opinoin.. you could actually see the guy fishing and watch some of his techniqe.

Well its only $700.00 and then you get to buy extra sound chips!   :surrender:

I don't need one that much

If it was up too me i would take away kvds last three wins for using it. I mean they might as well start letting them use live bait in bass contests. I would love to have one just to use fishing when out having fun but contest is another thing. Don't they try to level the field anyways with having them all use the same boats and electronics in the classic? Seems all of them should have had one. Kinda like when you were in school and got caught with gum and the teacher asks if you brought enough for the whole class. I'm sure the other anglers will start complaining about them in contests. Well, execpt roland.  IMO..

You may have a valid point a.m.

It reminds me of a story. Can I tell it?

Every year we have a live bait tournament for bass on Lake Tarpon.  It's been discontinued but it was an annual event and the weights were usually pretty large.

This particular year I fished and we came in second.  You fished with a partner.  Well in about 15 minutes my partner and I caught 15.5 pounds of fish on live shiners.  By the way, that was the total weight of both of the fish we weighed in.  Yep 2 fish only. One 7.5 pounder and a 7 pounder.

We lost that day to a team that was bed fishin' with artificles, by less than a pound  :'(

I tell you that because sometimes even the best equipment( in my case it was live bait) doesn't mean you'll win even if it is the biosonix in KVD's case.

It all depends on where you're fishing I think.

I think if that biosonix thing would have been so fish catchin' powerful, KVD would have been cullin' 15 minutes after blast offf.

We'll see how powerful it is when all tournament anglers have one won't we?

Ron Fogelson

That was a great story FFF, and AM I'm not knocking your thoughts at all, but I'm sure the same thing or something close was said when the 1st Depthfinder was used, or trolling motor and a bunch of other innovative equipmet we all take for granted now a days.

Brilliant observation Fogy ~c~

Can you imagine what anglers theought when the first

FISH FINDER came out.  I mean just think of the name.............FISH FINDER.

The guys that didn't have one yet must have  ~xyz the guys that did.

We wouldn't buy a bass boat now without a fish finder!!

lakecityyankee

I dont see too much wrong with using the Bisonix. I mean sure, its an advantage, but not one any of the other pros couldn't afford. And really, I'm guessing the fish don't come running from miles or even hundreds of yards away. You still have to locate the best area for the fish to be first. Atleast Id think so. Now underwater cameras, those I would consider cheating. Heck why not just have a diver follow ya around and point ya at all the fish. Know what I mean?

But in any case, I was glad to see KVD win. I was actually rooting for Davey Hite but I admire KVDs focus and he definitely deserved to win with that limit on the last day.

I'm also happy to say that I had him sign my ESPN press and media pass after he won. I'm hanging on to that baby forever! :D

If you get a chance to read about how Bill Lewis  ~c~ "originator of the Rat-L-Trap" first used his lure, he says there was a crowd around him while he caught fish after fish...  :o  So sound is a key factor when fishing this type of lure.  Someone mentioned chumming is next for the Pro's?  Read the label on some of the new plastics or on the side of a jar of certain attractants.  ~read
Just be glad that Jose Conseco ain't writing any books about  :{_ Kevin VanDam, - speed fisherman, Ricky Clunn - mind altering state of fishing or  Robert Sherry -  fishin' like a marine on leave.

I wonder if I can catch more fish on steroids?

I thought bass fishing was about finding fish and then figuring out how to catch them. That meant using your skills at manipulating a lure to make a fish react.
Using an electronic device to change the mood of the fish and put them in a competitive feeding mode is skill.  :-\   That just doesn't sound wright to me for competition.
A neat toy yes. Should it be used in Tournaments I still say no.

I'm happy that KVD won he's a fishing machine. Probably going to be the best fishermen ever in our time.

How do ya think AAron Martens feels. Did he have a biosonix?
How about the G-Man? Level playing field?

Depth finders and trolling motors didn't change the mood of the fish.
apples to apples , oranges to oranges.

Those were tools that made finding and being able to fish an area more effectivley. JMHO.

Lets agree to disagree here.
Definition of a Contest is an event involving a competition of at least two opposing individuals or teams, to be awarded a prize to the champion.
I guess logically this is where  and when the rules are set.  All is not fair in love and war and it is usually "Not Fair" when some wins and someone loses... and they did not have the same tools.  Sour grapes, nah, just pushing the envelope of what you can and can't use in a tourney. I guess they will take a poll amongst the Pros and the BASS board and see if this will be allowed.

I like to equate this to NHL Hockey when every one whines about fighting... Guess what there is a penalty for "fighting" then you sit in the penalty box feel remorse and go out and play again  lo
