I recently purchased a 901CDX with nothing wrong with it... took it out once, limped back to the boat ramp and have been working on it ever since.  This story seems all too familiar from what I read.

I was hoping someone knowledgeable about these boats could educate me a little...

What does the automatic valve selection on the livewell system do for you?  This thing has two pumps, one pumps water into the livewell and has no valves in it.   The other pump has one valve right on the aerator pump with three selections (one is auto) the other valve downstream has two more selections (pump out and recirc).  The other valve selections make sense to me , but, what does the auto do?

Originally I thought someone was inside this boat butchering up the wiring... after close inspection, it would appear that the job was a factory installation which unfortunately wasn't that impressive.  My next question, considering the wiring is indeed a factory job, why does every accessory on the boat (mainly the 4-livewell pumps and the radio) run off the engine battery.  With all the emphasis on a good strong cranking battery to avoid problems with the optimax motor, this seems concerning if you fish for a long time without cranking and charging the battery.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Charlie

Not sure about the wiring however I started using a deep cell battery years ago as my cranking battery and will never be without one in the future.  As you stated after fishing all day/night with the live wells running or lights on the last place you want to be is stuck on the water with a deed battery.  I also carry a jump pack, you know one of those emergency packs to jump start a car.  It's a lot easier hooking that up then trying how to string jumper cables from boat to boat.
