Summer weather means bugs, so we take our mosquito repellant thermocell. nothing worse than slapping your self silly when trying to reel in the big one.

If its a holiday weekend, we tend to go off to a private lake where we have permission to fish, or another secluded area where we can fish in peace

I wear the biggest billed hat I could find. Keeps the sun off my face, ears and neck. Make sure it is dark on the bottom side of the bill...keeps the glare down

Up here at 5200+ feet, I ALWAYS use SPF 50 sunscreen. Tropicana is nice and thick.

Put the sunscreen (at least SPF 30) before leaving and reapplying throughout the day.  Don't forget to put some on your toes and feet if you are wearing sandals.

Smith

Drink lots of fluids for breakfast (Juice and water) and keep drinking through the day.

Wear sandals so you can take them off and dip your feet in the water.

Smith

Wade in the rivers, the moving water keeps you cooler.

Either put the sunscreen on your lips or use chapstick that has sunscreen in it.

Smith

Make sure that there is an extra poncho or raingear in your boat in case your fishing partner forgot their's.

Smith

Freeze the water bottles the night before.  Putting them in a deep freeze will actually make the ice last longer.  All ice is not created equal, there is such a thing as colder ice.

Smith

Check the forecasts, and if your schedule is flexible, pick the days to fish when the weather is less hot or less sunny.

Smith

On the weekends, fish places that does not have as many boaters even if there is not the same amount of potential...just makes for a more relaxed day.

I wear sun gloves. Keeps my hands out of the sun adn when they get wet hands stay cool too.

When fishing rivers on the weekend, remember that there will be more people and canoers/rafters, so fish less pressurered places...possibly upstream from the put-in points or downstream from the take-out points.
