Ive only ever used a 3 blade weedless Prop on my Motor guide 24V 60Lb trolling motor. I saw a two blade "Power Prop" in the store the other day.  Am I right to assume that the 2 blade is NOT weedless but IS faster?

On high speed I get around 2MPH with my 3 blade hydrilla hacker on an 18.5 ft Skeeter.   Can anyone estimate how much faster I might go with the 2 blade?     Im trying to decide if its worth buying one of If I'm better off just staying with a 3 blade for all occasions.

Thanks.

Speed isn't really the point of a two blade prop, although you will go faster with a two blade versus a three blade prop.

The way it was explained to me was as follows, and it seems to bear up under my experience.

Three blade props have an edge when fishing weeds, the shorter blades are more likely to chop through the weeds and are less likely to wrap weeds around the prop.  Two blade props provide more thrust, allowing you more control in wind or current, plus they allow you to run your boat's trolling motor on a lower thrust setting than a three blade prop, thus extending your battery usage life.

What you have to ask yourself is, do I fish weeds more?  Do I fish current and windy conditions more?  Do I fish fairly open water for extended periods of time?

Thanks Frontiers, that helps.  There is a lake nearby where I know Ill be on the trolling motor all day in deeper water without weeds.  Im thinking the 2 blade would be a better prop to help save battery juice in that situation.   Especially if its windy out.

Also, My 3 blade usually has not problem during an 8 hour tournament, but there were a few times where it was extremely windy and I did run out of battery.  A 2 blade may have some slight impact on that situation too.

Thanks again for the info!
