When tying on a dropshot, more often than not the hook ends up sitting upside down. Take the tag end of your line and run it through the hook eye one more time and your hook should be in the upright position.

Also when fishing this rig vertical, always put a small barrel swivel 8-10 inches above the hook, or you'll have plenty of line twist going on.

Bass Pro Shops sells keepers for your drop shot weight that slides onto the rod handle. This keeps  everything in order when changing spots or riding to and from the lake. Rubber bands work ok, but never last more than a couple of trips.

Great tip!

Another:
If you wish to prevent yourself from accidentally tying the hook upside down, start your palomar knot this way:

1) Make sure the hook's point is facing skyward and not toward the ground.
2) Holding the hook as recommended above, start the palomad knot by inserting the line through the hook's eye from point side to the other
3) Complete the knot. Doing it this way will guarantee that you won't accidentally tie the hook on upside down.
4) Lastly, insert the line through the eye as described above.
ARX - IB's Daughter on BC Reels:
"Papi! I like this reel. It is so much easier to use than the other one (the spinning reel) and it is more fun to use too." Now all I can say to that is this;
"That's my little girl!"
