We had narrowed the lakes down to either Toledo Bend and Lake Fausse Pointe. We really wanted to give Fausse Pointe a thourough comb over but with the way cabins book up over there we had to move quick. Needless to say the 2006 UBCS will be held on Lake Fausse Pointe. The dates will be March 18th and 19th.

Ok , I admit- you just broke my heart by not picking Toledo.............I would not miss a shootout with you guys no matter where it is though. Lake Fausse Point it is.
One question though..... Can we have cajun cooking every night? You boys know how to cook and I gotta keep up this physique while Im there for four days. :roll2: :roll2:

cmegee

Man that looks like a good place, I'm looking forward to it.

I'll second that! That dinner was AWESOME! Best venison & pork I have ever eaten. The elk was great! First time for me eating that.

And the spices & heat...Oh man! I was tasting it all the next day!

Everything sounds and looks great!
I do however have a question.
As you know the middle of march can be very volatile weatherwise, so have you checked to see what effect lots of rain has on the lake. I know that lots of lowland cypress tree lakes , can be petty much unfishable in the spring during rainy periods, and especially if it has a couple of good size creeks.
Also do you have any idea when the normal spawning takes place down there? according to the moon phases the spawn could be in full swing but I suspect that far south it will be post spawn for the most part.
I'm coming anyway but just curious about a few points.

Papa, Everything I have read and all the people I have talked to said that March is the best time to fish Fausse Pointe. We should be right dead smack in the middle of the spawn. Now we all know that the spawn can vary from year to year depending on how winter treats us. But like I said all the reports say that's the best time to fish there. Now I'm sure rain will have some effect on it but hopefully we won't have any major rain storms before or during the tournament but I can't do anything about that. You face these kinds of thing with any place you fish. The SRA is famous for pulling water out of Toledo Bend at that time of the year and I'm sure you know when they start that crap the fish back out a suspend and make it tough. We will just have to adapt to the conditions if the weather doen't cooperate.

Yeah thats fine, I was just curious about the lake and how it reacted to lots of rain. And of course you are right we will just do what is necessary if the weather is bad. we could run into that on any lake. I actually like to fish tournaments in the rain, takes about half the field out of the tourney ;D just need lots of red RATTLETRAPS

You guys know I want to go again.  I checked the site this morning and was glad to see that you guys had already announced the 2006 date and location.  I was able to make some calls, reschedule another tournament that was in the planning stages, and it looks like I can go.  (Naturally, I got no work real work done today.)

Whether I will be able to field a team or not remains to be seen.  But I took the liberty of calling the state park and reserving a cabin so that if I have to cancel like the Maryland folks did this year it won't effect Rattle's planning.  (If I do have to cancel I will check here to see if anyone else wants the cabin.  BTW, there is one cabin left out of 18.)

So my questions are:

  • How many boats does it take compete as a team?  Two I guess since that is how many you have to have in order to weigh 10 fish.
  • As the biggest underdog does the smallest team get to have any orphan fisherman on their team?
  • Since I missed this year do I get double the proportions of whatever the LeBlue brothers cooK?

BIG PAPA

Bo since Lockjaw is running this one I cannot answer any of your questions, but I can say I am very glad you are planning on being there.
Seems everyone remembers my big fish and give me a lot of credit towards helping the TCTC win, but I remember that you had the best catch the second day to really seal the win ~c~
papa

Mike Noble

Bo...good questions.

I think a bass club can consist of however many teams...it would have to be a club entry to compete for the overall club trophy.

Yes, the club with the smallest number of teams does get the "orphan" fishermen.

As far as the food...what is missed is missed.  Everybody starts off new next time.   :roll2:  But you can eat as much as you want....there was plenty this year.

We look forward to you being there in 2006.  ~c~

BO, I'm sorry I wasn't able to get back in touch with you today but I'll try again tomorrow. Mike hit it on the head, the club with the least amount of teams gets the orphans. You can fish as a club as long as that club and the members participating are registered on the website. I'm fire up that you are coming back to fish this year and thanks for the consideration with the cabins. I can assure everyone that we are going to do everything we can to make this an awesome event. It will be hard to top this past event and again I have to tip my hat to the TCTC for doing such an awesome job, but we are going to try. WE of course put ourselves behind the eight ball again and left ourselves with less than a year to plan but we are going to do our best.
