Anyone know where to get tide predictions for the broadkill river at the ramp in Milton? Also are there any good maps available or any known navigation hazards to be on the lookout for. Also any other information on the river would be appreciated. Thanks for any help or advice.

If you are thinking of bass fishing in the Broadkill I would seriously consider another choice of locations. There are a few bass in there, but very few and you could find a better place to fish than there. If you are going to the canal in Lewes to saltwater fish then that's a horse of a different color.

Try this link http://www.saltwatertides.com/dynamic.dir/delawaresites.html
That site gives tide information for a lot of different locations along the coast. The Mispillion River entrance will likely be about the same as that for the Broadkill, or at least close to it since the Broadkill is just a little south.

Thanks for the advice. I recall a post several months ago about bass in the broakill up to route 1. I have always know it to be saltwater. Just thought I would check out some new territory while I have my basscat. I am relocating to lower delaware from maryland. I am trying to decide to get a center console for the bay or jon boat for the ponds. But for now Seaford and laurel delaware are not that far away. Once again I appreciate the advice.

Ricky, the Broadkill river does have  a few bass up near the town of Milton, but it quickly becomes brackish as you go towards route 1 bridge and really isn't much of a bass spot. Try these if you haven'y already on the lower shore. Pocomoke River near Snow Hill MD, Choptank River near Denton, MD, Wicomico river Salisbury MD, all of these have bass boat access and decent fishing. Also, try any of the ponds around, most offer decent fishing. Bill

How about the pond at the mouth of the Broadkill (forgot the name) worth the time for largemouth, or is it just a big puddle?

Thanks

DC Tracker, i think the name of the pond is wagamans. I have often wondered the same, its not unusaual to see a few boats there on any given weekend.

Wagamons pond has decent fishing and a pretty nice ramp in town Milton. It is kinda round, but still produces some fish and they have pond tournaments there as well.

tricky that Broadkill river. That river goes against the grain in every category. You never know how the tide will be because it seems to just do what it wants to. The salinity line jumps all over the place but usually stays pastthe rt. 1 bridge. Currents can rip there and yes, you should be careful of some obstructions. One that stands out at me is at the wrek site just west of the rt. 1 bridge. There is enough space to fit a boat behind the wrekage between it and the bank. DO NOT NAVAGATE BETWEEN THE WRECK AND THE BANK. Also there is a narrow but navigable creek just west of the wreck. Do not navigate it at a falling tide or low tide. You have to time it just right so that the tide does not maroon you. Up that creek you will see a house on your right if you are heading up stream. STAY LEFT! There is a large branch stretching from the side the house is on, to the middle. That's about all I can think of at this time. Bill H is right; bass are few in there. But since there is less competition, there are some bigger size bass. Hard to catch, but they are there.
