Add'l seat pedestal for Skeeter ZX-185 (pic warning)

I wanted to put a third pedestal seat mount in my newly acquired Skeeter ZX-185 so I could fish with my father and my son and all of us have a seat. The only place I could do this was in between the consoles, so I made a plywood box in which to install the mount.

I used a router to recess the mounting plate, and I coated it with fiberglass resin to waterproof it. I marked where the box fit in between the consoles and use 3/4" painter's tape to give me a guide where to drill to the holes to hit the 3/4" plywood. The tape also kept the fiberglass of the console from chipping when I drilled it. My dad had a piece of marine carpet...it's not a perfect match but it's close enough. I used stainless steel screws and screwed them in from inside the console, and used beveled washers for a finished look.

I'm pleased with how it turned out. It's very sturdy and I gave up only a small amount of foot space for it. In fact, while I'm driving I tend to rest my foot on the edge like a footstool.
