I live in Southeast Nebraska.   I have fished Burchard and Wagon Train.   Anyone know of any other clear water nearby.   I heard Stagecoach was muddy...don't know about Iron Horse.   Some of our club members have lost interest in participating in our far away tournaments in kansas and Missouri because of gas prices.  Probably will be changing them to closer areas.   Any help would be appreciated. ~fff

I don't know of any real clear water...but walnut creek is about 2 ft vis, but the banks are surrounded with grass mats.

I wouldn't worry about the water being clear or stained. Those fish are still there and they still have to eat. Just throw a little darker color of bait. Where I mainly fish here in LA, I prefer stained water. Seems as thou the bit is stronger. Use something with some thump to it.  :) :-*

We're talking nestles chocklate mix colored water Russ.  But like you said, they gotta eat...probably would have to fish in 2 inches of water for them to see the bait

would think those lakes with best weed growth are most likely to settle out/clear up first.

Hear you on the gas thing...I don't need to go to Missouri to get skunked...or catch little fish.  Can do that right here  ;D

But it's going to start to get interesting when multiple clubs show up at the same lake on the same day...specially for those clubs with members sporting 20 foot boats.

Makes our little 100-300 acre lakes get small in a hurry...

Yea you can bet your  ^-^ that it's going to be a crowded summer on the Omaha lakes. With gas prices how they are, I'm going to just assume that alot of clubs in Omaha (there are a bunch) are going to be staying closer to fish, instead of hitting the Iowa and Missouri Lakes.

coldfront

on the other hand, there is an awful lot of good fishing to be had within 1-1.5 hours drive of Omaha...but most are 'no-wake' lakes...perfect for clubs whose members fish small boats with small outboards... ;D

I seem to be one of the idiots still paying to go to Missouri/Iowa/Kansas/Oklahoma on a normal basis. :)

coldfront

It's only about 1.5 hours to some pretty decent Mizzou lakes...but it's about 7 hours to the Ozark region...

It's getting so that about 1.5-2 hours is all I want to drive...and that not each and every weekend...

Couple weeks ago we were catching good numbers of bass is very dirty water.  Visibility was 2" - 4".  We were bouncing black/blue jigs off rocks on the dam or close to the dam.  The fish were definitely hungry!  Probably hadn't had a good meal in 50 casts or so!   lo
