A buddy and myself fished all day Saturday with Mike Echols on a private lake in east Texas. This property is 2000 total acres and is surrounded by high game fence. The fella that owns it raises trophy white-tails and trophy bass ,he has three lakes total. With one that has bream in excess of two pounds(these things are so big... they look weird) . We caught between 65 and 80 bass ( we lost count after 50 or so) including 10 to 15 over 4 pounds. Biggest was 6.5#. We actually had two fish break off that were between 7 and 8 pounds.... we actually saw them. The pad stems killed us at times. We fished from 7:30 to 3:30 and could've fished longer but we were beat down by 3:30 so we called it quits. The reason why Im posting this is I think it would be perfect for a father and son trip or father/daughter or whatever . About this time of year the bite gets tough on our area lakes and are often full with pleasure boaters and jet skiers and there is no better place to go than a private lake that is loaded with bass and huge bream. We fished for bass all day but I would recommend splitting the trip between bream and bass especially if taking younger folks. It didnt cost me anything because my buddy paid for it but it is costly but I think worth a memorable day . Within the last month or so a biologist shocked up a 11.5 pounder and a 13.5 pounder and never went any deeper than 6 foot. This particular lake has water to 30 ft . Its loaded with structure and cover. Lilly pads, laydowns ,some trees, ledges ,humps etc. Beautiful lakes and beautiful property and it takes less than 45 minutes to get there.

I know who owns the property, and I think I will have to find out the price for fishing.  I think the deer hunting starts around 7500 per trophy buck.  Question is are you able to launch your own boat?  Triton?

We fished with Mike out of a big wide aluminum boat that had no gas powered motor. That boat stays in the water . We rode from Tommys house to the lake in a Polaris Ranger. Which you really need because that ride would be a little rough on a truck pulling a big boat.

I happen to know that the price is $500 for a full or a half day, one or two people.  That includes the guide fee and the lake fee.

You would need to call Mike Echols . His number is 465-6453.
I know it is expensive but consider that most other guide services charge 350.00 for a full day on lakes that can be feast or famine. We have some very good guides here locally but even they can struggle some days. This lake is always pretty hot from what Ive been told . They actually try not to guide on back to back days except with the bream. As far as I know Mike is the only one with this arrangement of guiding there. I think Tommy fishes it every now and then. I get the impression that its very lightly fished.

What's Mikes area code?

skeeter_bite

it is 318, but he does not guide there anymore.

The original owner passed away, and I think it was bought out but do not know any more than that.
