Can anyone tell me what is working on this lake. Love to fish but this Bass fishing is all new to me. All have fished for is trout back home in California. I just bought a new boat and love to fish but not having any luck.

FIREMAG6969

I HAVE ALWAYS COUGHT ALOT ON PRETTY MUCH ANY SOFT PLASTIC BLACK AND RED OFF BOAT DOCKS. SPINNERBAIT WORKS GOOD TOO. RIGHT NOW I WOULD TRY FLUKS, SPINNER BAITS, AND RIBBITS ON THE NORTH END.

hello all

well let's start. i just got back from iraq for a few weeks, and can't wait to hit the lake again. cypress has turned into my favorite lake since moving to it a few years ago. haven't talked to all of ya'll for a while so if you see me on the lake come on by and see what's up. my nitro is broke, main steering cable is broke and main trolling motor cable is broke. will be fishing in my cousin's gator bay boat. it may sound weird but that boat is the best bass fishing boat i have ever fished out of. wind does not bother it at all. hope ya'll leave me some fish in the lake when i finally get back in december, until then, i will be point jumping throwing a c rig and wacking them just like last year. take care all and see ya on the lake

Glad your back, for a while at least.  Enjoy the fishing...you've earned your short break.

I'd like to get out to Cypress myself this coming weekend.  I just have so much on my plate right now.

NOTE:  tried to fish Cypress yesterday but the gates were locked up tight due to high water.  Some of the locals dock were under water.  Might want to give the park a call before your next trip to see if they opened the lake back up yet.  Same thing for Back Bayou as well.

See you on the water

Called the park and they said that the lake should open back up friday. There # is 965-0007. Plan on going crappie fishing sat. morning. He said the water wasn't muddy on the south end so I'll be in that area.

Thanks for the info Mitch!

I plan to try & go Sunday. Will probably go after the white perch also.

Where are you guys finding the crappie?  I might take my son out there Sunday and try to get into a mess of them.

The best way to find them is to put on a 1/8 ounce spinner bait and or a beetle spin and cover water, when you catch one stop and work that exact cast a few times, sometimes to will find the mother load sometimes you only catch one or two more. Fish the coves and once you find a couple that will tell you how far in the are on all the coves  :-*

Fished Cypress today from 1300-1700 and boated 5 big Crappies and 2 bass. Caught all on a bettle spin in 2-5'. Water was 61-66 and stained. all but 1 fish came off of stick-ups. Hope this helps some else find them.

Fished it friday with my son.  It was a pretty day for the most part.  Got a bit windy in the afternoon.

I caught 6 bass and 1 crappie.  Two of the bass were little, two were in the pound and a half range, and the other two went 3.12 and 4.10, not a bad day overall.

Caught most of them with my username.   :roll2:

Fished cypress Saturday and had pretty good luck in the morning until it started to drizzle. Then the bite shut off like someone hit a switch. Had good luck with a white spinner bait from about 6:30 to 7:45 then started throwing a white horny toad up to the bank and let it fall in the weeds and pads and they bass would just hammer it. caught several 8-10 inchers to throw back but had a couple keepers. went back in the afternoon and caught several more of those 8-10 inchers but that was all. Not a bad day at all.
