Cypress Lake Fishing Report

Hey Papa - I have caught a few fish at Cypress with smoke/red tube jigs off the piers. They hit it HARD. Me and Trey Vereen did good with the smoke/red by Strike King with Shaw Grigsby hooks.

BTW, it has been exactly 11 months since that day we were going to finally fish together on Caddo. You remember the day, when I didn't show up cause my wife went into labor with Christian! Remember calling your house, cell, and even Elsies hoping to catch you before you gave up on me.

Hope I still got that raincheck!

Well me and Chris May went yesterday from 1300-1700 and boated 1 bass. Talked with BB,Kermit,and Kennyp at the ramp and the only thing I could come up with is its time for a

. I'll tell you what I caught mine on but you might want to sit down before reading on. I was fishing in 2' of water in the back of a pocket with a ZARA SPOOK JR when he nailed it. I changed lures so many times I need to respool one of my reels. I told Chris that I had used everything except topwater so I pulled it out of the rod box and saved the day. Will be back this weekend for some morning time fishing.

Fished yesterday from 2 until 5. No luck at all. Dad did get one to bite a white spinnerbait but did not get it in the boat. I worked tubes, crankbait and a crawfish with nothing. Going back tomorrow and try something new.

Wow, look at all the Cypress info!

It was my first bass excursion in a while so I was disappointed when I didnt catch anything. We stayed for about 3.5 hours. My partner found some fish on a break with grass(2.5 to 9 ft drop) and landed three on back to back to back casts in the same spot . The biggest was 4 lbs ....all on a 5/8 oz rattletrap.

I got a chance to get out on the lake with my daughter today. We did some fishing and met chris out there driving his new (temporary) boat. Talked for a while and really don't have a pattern yet or a good report. After I left Chris, Faith and I pulled into a cove with a south facing bank and nailed a really nice 5lb'er. All I can say is that I will be throwing a spinnerbait...Yes I said I will be throwing a spinnerbait. That one fish was caught way off a dock with no cover or sturcture that I could make out. That was it for my day.......Water temps were 51 to 55 degrees, clear near the bridge but more stained the further away from there that you got. Lots of grass up there. Boy, the lake is low!........Dave

Fished Cypress this morning from 8am til about 2:30. Only maged to boat 2 fish, both on the Calif 420 tube. Both fish came out of less than 3ft of water.
I could not buy a bite off a dock.

We did find a few fish trying to school & were chasing shad everywhere at about 1:30. Couldn't get them to bite though. Seen Fogy right afterwards & he was going to the same spot. Maybe he had better luck with them.

James the schooling fish Trey and I found the other day would not hit anything I threw at them , but ate the American Shad colored Lucky Craft LV 500 lipless crank that Trey had on.

Fished Cypress today from about 1000-1500, we caught 5 bass and, of course, a jack

! Water temps were around 54 across the lake. No pattern to discern, all came from different areas and different baits. Used spinners, worms, crank, and I even caught a weigh fish on a tube

(first for me)!

Saw everyone's vehicle but never ran across anyone until we came in and saw Greg. He couldn't find a pattern either.

FYI

- I went to the lake in early Jan '05 without a new sticker and came back to the ramp with a $25 ticket on the windshield! Went to the park and had a fit, they waived the ticket since I was purchasing a sticker.

Already got mine for '06.

The way I hear it is, the tickets they give out are basically unenforceable....So, they can kiss my fish....And further more, I have bought stickers two years in a row, fished probably 8 times, pay at the ramp each time, and its only a few days after the 1st. I am going to get my money's worth, one way or another......Dave

went to cypress today, got out around 9:00 i had 4 brush piles and a bucket to sink. i fished till 1pm didnt get a bite. when i got back to the launch there was a friut jar tourny going on. so i got to watch the weigh in. i believe 10.44 won it, big bass was 4.56. the guy that won it said he caught all his on jigs in about 3ft ? the guy that had big bass said he caught it on a crankbait? i would have believed him if he hadnt taken such a long time to answer.so im sure he lied..water temp is in the low 50's,i think im threw till sunday...
