This time of year if you are lucky enough to find some that usually are  ~c~ I know out at Caddo it's that same way. It's funny in the winter time the majority of the small fsih disappear ???

Used to see it fairly often this time of the year on a warm day seems the water warms up and they really turn on, but last few years seldom see it this late. . Fogy what time did they come up?

Butcher and I have also been putting the beat down on them on Cypress lately....will be there tomorrow as a matter of fact. Not really catching many on the Black/Blue jig....however there is a certain tube jig color that has been unreal...Told you that thing is a hoss BA....try rigged on 1/4 ounce RED weight with a 4/0 or 5/0 hook...I use the Owner EWG for that tube. In the last week we have caught 20 -30 bass with some hitting the 5 - 6 range all in 2-4 feet of water. went late yesterday solo and caught 11, one really large fish came unbuttoned on a very, very popular dock, got a good look at her and would say 9 maybe 9.5  ~xyz...biggest five might go 18 - 20....Kicker was 6.19 on the X-Tool scale. Will post update tomorrow....off until Thursday at 1600 so I have several more days to try to pattern the fish. We have found that if you find one, slow way down.....there are more....all 11 yesterday were within 30 yards of bank on brushpiles.P.S. BA keep that color a secret until January 9, 2006 please!!!! >:D

Oh about 4pm, about an hour late for the tournament.  Thing is, I know where they live and think I'll just camp out there until they bite or I can use a GBS or 2. (Ground Burst Simulator=GBS)  >:D

Fished Cypress from about 1100 to 1500. Water temps were 49-53. Caught five keepers just fooling around.

Got to see everyone, had a great day!

Papa, wish I'd heard you. I would've liked to seen that fish ;D!

BTW- I know where both of those pics were taken >:D!

Glad everyone else caught fish! I fished 0700-1200 and not even a bump. I told BB they would start after I left and I sounds like they did. Water started at 47 so I fished a BB jig/ Plastics real slow in 2-14 feet with all kinds of cover. Tried a rattle trap and spinnerbait after it warmed a little with no luck. Cypress has been bad for me the past month but still have this weekend to find them.

That is one BAD color! Caught 2 & missed 2 in an hour. I just wished we wouldn't have wasted the day crappie fishing.

Jeff...Your secret is safe!

dave the dope man

this is a late post and no one should consider us a threat next week. fished for about 3 to 4 hours without one bass bite, I did get a really nice 30 incher that was....oh thats right, we are not up north and the toothy critters don't count. anyhow temps were 42- 46 (surface water) and the air temps were 38 to 42. this was last Friday. To finish this post go over to the Black lake Campti thread........Dave

Dave ,the last time I got to bass fish is when I saw you on Bistineau back in early September . I probably wont get to prefish before the tourney so I will be chunking and reeling hoping for Bertha.... I may even be in a borrowed boat. ~xyz

dave the dope man

Well brother, we can follow each other around in circles during tournament hours.......and whats the deal with your boat and a borrowed boat?....Dave

Mitch and I fished yesterday from 1 to 5. Boated 3 with 2 that would weigh. The wind was tough until about dark when it started to die down. Water was in the upper 40's to lower 50's in some spots. Going to try and get back this afternoon.

Well me and Kenny had a better day on cypress yesterday. Boated 3 and did alot of running trying to find a pattern. Going back today at noon to see if it was luck or not. We may not have a 16 lb limit but I sure gained some knowledge. The wind has made the water dirty above the beach with water temps running in the low 50's in the afternoon. Above the ski buoy's is very shallow with some stumps sticking out so be careful running up there. If your out there today I'll be in a white w/blue trim Nitro 750. The easyest way to tell is the blue stripe on the motor cowling(saltwater 125 Merc). Be sure to say howdy.

Talk about some tight lipped fishermen .I saw at least five different club members today prefishing at Cypress. No reports?  I was undercover so you guys couldnt see me and no I didnt catch anything. Probably going to be a tough tourney for me and Brent .  :help:

Mike Cork

And you didn't stop and say "HI"?? The nerve of some people ::)!

Fished Cypress today from about noon till 1630. Water temps were up all over the lake, averaging 55+. Water was pretty clear everywhere we went. We caught six bass and two jacks. Caught one bass that went 4.07lbs. We were talking to Papa and Trey at the time (let's keep that place to ourselves for now, OK?  ;D). We didn't have nowhere near 16lbs, like some folks. But we did have a good time.

Of course Papa hit the nail on the head, bound to be a couple of cold fronts come through between now and the tourney. So we're just wasting our time prefishing :'(.

Mike Cork

Gotta take advantage of the bite when it is there :toot:

It weren't me that spy'd him ;)

Yep, but like I said, we didn't get in to them until after 4pm so wouldn't have helped any way.

Trey and I went to Cypress today also , late report because I bowl on thursday night, (Shot 222 - 246 -  239 for a nice 707 series ~c~). For you naysayers (NO ONE) IN THE TCTC GIVES BETTER REPORTS THAN I DO. It is real easy when you never catch anything :'(
Trey and I caught 25 or more Bass today and have no pattern at all . We noticed shad flitting and acting nervous on a point and went over to check it out , Trey caught a bass on every cast for 10 minutes on a lucky craft LV 500 in chrome blue back. (  Some of us will even tell what baits we are catching fish on)
Seriously they would not hit my spinnerbait or small white crankbait, I scrambled changing baits but by the time I got a chrome blue trap on they were gone. We found the same situation in a couple of other places. The bass were not surfacing but were under the shad and would hit that LV 500 like crazy. As far as patterns we really did not find anything, I caught a couple on a black neon tube and a couple on a spinnerbait where Bassbuff caught his 4.07. I would gladly tell where that was but you read what Buff said and he is much bigger than me. I threw every color tube I could find and I guess I did not have the color that Jeff has. I think everyone should give Jeff a hard time cause he will not tell. In fact I think I am going to tell my Daddy on him. :{_ :{_ :{_ :{_ :{_

ok, ok, ok...we caught them on a blue stick of dynamite. >:D

Actually, today was slow for us, did catch one better than 6 and had several misses and one monster crappie. My fish are coming on Black neon tubes and the California 420 tube....I have purchased all that was in stock as of Tuesday. aa >:D.  Today had several hit  the spinnerbait, short strikes...even missed the trailer hook, the 6 came on a black neon tube, one on a Ghost Minnow Live Pointer in some wood, and one very large something that made my Calcutta squeal, felt like a bass, ran like a bass, but never saw it, shook off in some brush.I saw several of you guys as well, sorry I didnt speak...just trying to get these fish figured out.....they seem to change almost hourly. I have now divulged all my secrets that I have fished for the last few days. ~shade Will be at it again Monday most likely and then leave it until Sunday.
