cody

I was thinking on going to cypress this sunday for some bass. what is the latest report on bass? reply asap!!!!!!!!

Mike Cork

Cody, I haven't been in a few weeks but you should be able to get a top water bite before the sun comes up, then switch to a spinner bait until about 9 am. After that hit the docks with plasitics and a black and blue jig :-*

Railroader goes quite often and can help you out when he sees this, this evening ;)

Well i havent been in awhile but fish the docks with a 3/8 blk/blu jig or some kind of creature bait. or try north in the pads they should be dying off and make sure you have a 1/4-1/2 rattletrap on for the schoolers...

mitchell

fished cypress today from 0700-1230 and boated 6 and lost 2 more in the pads. Water in pretty clear and 71-73 degrees. The water is also real low so the best bet was too fish the main lake areas with pads in it.

Jay and I went out on Sat. morning from about 7 till noon.  It was pretty slow in the early hours.  I only had one bite on a buzzbait.  Then we found a few small fish around the boat dock at the state park.  The pattern for those seemed to be a dock with about 4 to 5 feet of water off the end of it.  I went to the other side of the lake and duplicated the same pattern with another small bass.  I used a 6 inch junebug culprit worm.  I never tried the jig, I should have for bigger fish.  Water temp was 69-71 all day.  I boated 6, missed one, and Jay boated one and missed about 2 or 3.  Glad I landed a few, it might be a while till the next trip.  Our first baby is due any day now.   :help:

mitchell

Country, it's good to hear from you again. Glad you caught some fish and wish your family the best with the new baby on the way. Let us know when it happens. Take care.

Passed the north launch on Cypress yesterday & seen my father in law pulling out. I stopped to make sure I didn't get any fisherman's lies from him later that night.

He had caught 6 bass & 2 white perch, all in the channel on the north side of the bridge. All on plastics...I was in a hurry & didn't ask what color.

All the bass looked to be 2-3 pounds a piece. He did say he had fished hard to catch those.

mitchell

Fished from 1230-1630 today and caught 2 bass and 2 crappie on a white spinnerbait. water was stained and 67-72. All fish came off of single brushtops in 3-4' of water. My son Avery lost a real nice fish on a blue wooly crawl bait but made his day just to have a fish pull a lot of drag!

Were there many perch jerkers out yet?

BassBUFF

I fished from 0800- 1230, nada, zilch, nothing! Had one swirl on a spinnerbait. Weather really had them screwed up. Ran into Mitch as I was leaving and talked awhile. But it was nice to be on the water beore another TDY!

mitchell

There was a few boats out there and the one I talked with had 14 good crappies. There starting to move up in the shallows so a good cold front should turn them on.

try a 1/4 rattletrap or a rinkydink? or throw a fluke in the middle and let it sink?

mitchell

I didn't have a rattletrap tied on or a fluke. I will next time thats for sure. The fish I saw right at the boat chasing shad where good 3-4# but they didn't stay around very long. Threw what I had tied on and tried different retrives and then it was over. They would pop up from time to time but just a few seconds then nothing for 30 mins. ~xyz They where in the cove just past the dam in 3-6' of water. From the deep docks on the right of the dam all the way back. FYI...don't run on plane back in there it gets shallow real fast with the water as low as it is.

fished cypress today, got the ramp around 11 went over to check the spot where i put a tree and on my 4th cast caught a keeper but that was it. i lost a 4lb on a dock threw under as far as i could and fought her all the way out she came up and got off. i didnt get anything on my usuall spots, went up north just looking around at some creeks that i have on a map trying to find them for next year, an did manage to get 1 in the turn a 2.7lb on a jig. rode around just looking at some other piers now that the water is low you can which ones have cover on them.water was in the mid to upper 50's. i caught the first keeper on a DD14.

Railroader

BassBUFF

Ran into RR and BB yesterday at the ramp, think we'll follow them if we fish Cypress in Jan :roll2:! Tried some different spots and different baits, caught two weigh fish. Water temp was in the upper 40s.

I was really too busy playing with RR's GPS he let me borrow ;D to get much fishing in.
