Where are you finding docks with 6 to 10 feet of water under them? I usually have the best luck on the docks on the north end but they only have 4 to 6 feet of water.

Mike Cork

Darren, Try the docks on the south end past the damn that are on the same side as the damn. Also the docks straight across the lake from the launch on the south side also are deep. One last spot to try are the docks that are straight across from the park the ones on the point and then north have some good water under them. Try a 3/8 oz jig or a brush hog and shake it very slow try to shake it with out moving it forward at all and you will get bit (watermelon). Have you been out lately?

Here is a dumb question for you, What is a "dang"? I assume it is like a boey but I don't remember seeing any on the south end. I haven't been out in a while but will try to go soon. I am familiar with the importance of having a jig drop straight down but how do you shake it if you have slack line? Thanks

The board won't allow the word "d-a-m-n"...changes it to "dang"...but it should be "dam".

I used D-a-m-n in hopes that it was the other way, you would think I would know that ;D

Anyway to the earlier question, Darren let it fall staight to the bottom but once there then try to shake it in one spot. The trick no matter how you do it is slooooowwwww.

Good Luck and keep us posted on your trips

Fished Cypress yesterday with Mike Cork, Jay Buie, and Clint Michaelson.  Jay and I caught three, biggest being Jay's 2.8# ;D, and Mike and Clint caught eight :P.  Jay and I got all of our hits in 4-10 feet of water on the end of the docks.  We were using watermelon brushogs and a red lizard.  The water temp was 48-49 in the morning, but it reached 58.5 by the afternoon :).  All in all it was a good trip.  My thanks to Mike for showing us around the lake.  We enjoyed it!

No problem on the show and tell, I enjoyed it also. Heard you went back Sunday and didn't do very well, that really suprises me as the weather was productive. Should have come to Caddo with us it was on over there.....

Anyone fished Cypress in the last few days? I am going in the morning chasing after a few bass and to see if the white perch have moved into the shallows. I would appreciate any report anyone has!!

bassadict69

I would like to try the north end tomorrow, but I doubt I'll have time. Let us know how ya do!

Mike Cork

Fished Cypress today to redeem myself pitty from yesterday Caddo Sucks!!!! Honestly I went to check water temps because the white perch should turn on soon but the water is a little cool yet, couple more weeks. I fished from 7 am till 9:30 when the rain just wouldn't quit caught 8 nice bass 2-3 pounds all on spinner baits shallow. So get your favorite double willow spinner bait out and have a ball I imagine you can catch them all day on the northend.

Fished Cypress on Friday morning and caught 6...all but one came on a jig.  Tried a spinnerbait a good bit but could not get a bite.  Fished the middle of the lake and south end.

Tried to find some white perch on Cypress this morning. I caught 3 decent bass right off the bat on a spinnerbait then picked up the bettle spin and caught several perch. I caught 9 in 9 casts on one dock though. So it is still slow but best I can tell they are just starting to move in to the banks.....

Have the white perch moved up in the shallows real good yet? I am headed that way here in a couple of hours to check them out.

Let us know how ya do...I plan on going tomorrow if it ain't raining.

Mike Noble

Fished Cypress today from daylight until about 2:30 p.m.  I ended up catching 7 bass.  There are really scattered and I could not find any concentrated in an area.  It was "catch one....and move".  I caught 1 sac-a-lait (white perch, crappie, whatever else they are called up here).  Mike Cork was on the water until about noon.  He gave me the only sac-a-lait he caught.  They don't seem to be shallow yet.  The water temp is right for the bite to improve....70 to 73.

If it doesn't storm, I'll be back out there tomorrow...and Sunday....and most everyday next week.

Fished Cypress today until about noon.  Caught 7 bass and 5 sac-a-lait.  The bass all came on a spinnerbait.  The sac-a-lait are still not concentrated in any area.  I caught all 5 on a deeper dock, but I spent quite a while there for those few fish.  Nathan was there and he caught 2 on Cypress, then went over to Black Bayou and caught 12 in less than 2 hours.  It sounds like the sac-a-lait bite on Black Bayou is a lot better.  Of course, who knows that will happen with this cold front moving thru.  The rain and cold temps might knock the bite out completely.

Doc - if you will wait one year, one month, and 23 days (but who is counting)...then you won't need a job "like" mine....you can have my job.  All you need is a degree in accounting and your CPA.  I'll gladly turn it over to you.

Fished Cypress today with Mike Cork.  We managed 8 bass on spinnerbaits.  Could not get a soft plastic bite.  Also tried the sac-a-lait on several boat docks but nothing.  We talked to a couple of sac-a-lait fishermen and they were not doing any good either.
