Well I caught 10 or 11, and only three big enough to weigh.  I caught em' all on silver and blue rattle trap.  I had no bites on jigs and tubes (and I did switch colors).  Every fish I caught I would throw back to the same spot and catch one or two more.  Just unfortunate they had no size.

When worm fishing I will change colors pretty often. But with the jig I don't know why I didn't. I did good fishing it all day to begin with. I NEVER fish a jig, but fished it all day yesterday. I guess I was thinking a dark jig for a dark day. Once the sun started coming out it dawned on me to switch to a lighter color but didn't do it til I broke off.

Congratulations to the winners who fished the TCTC tournament yesterday. Sounds like everyone caught some fish even with the weather. A bad day on the water is better than a good day at work, anytime. Can't wait till our tournaments start in March until then I'll have to read what's happening down south ya lucky guy's and Gal's.

Fished tuesday and today. Caught 12 tuesday and 4 today. Best 5 Tuesday was 16 lbs with the largest weighing 7lbs. Fish was caught on a watermelon red hawg tail. 4 fish caught on jigs and the rest were caught on a carolina rigged baby brushog. Fish today were caught on a amber orange crankbait. No size today, but were classic pre-spawn fish. All in all a great couple of days.

Mike Cork

sounds like you had a great time, you should have fished the Twin Cities Team Club tournament we just had out there. The best we could do was a couple of 14 pound stringers. Good Job and thanks for the info  ~c~

Fished today from about 9 til 1. Caught 10 and missed just as many. The pattern I have been on held out very well today. Every point I went to I caught fish off of it. All fish were caught on a carolina rigged baby brushog in watermelon grape, and green pumpkin red fleck. Best 5 was around 10lbs. Tried other lures after catching some fish on this 1 point, crankbaits, different color soft plastics, jerkbaits, spinnerbaits and caught nothing. First cast with the brushog and boom. Guess that's just what they wanted. ;PEP)

Mike Cork

I take it these are main lake points. How deep are your fish holding?

I should have been more clear. The points are main lake points and i am catching the fish anywhere from the bank to 10 feet deep.

Mike Cork

Seems kinda like what happen to us last weekend. Most fish were caught on shallow baits like shallow running cranks and spinnerbaits then there were a few fish caught deeper. Good job on finding a pattern that is holding  ~c~ Thanks for the info. I may head out there this weekend. Really want to go to Caddo but if the rain is going to be hit and miss I might stay close so if I have to quit it's not that far home  ;)

Fished Cypress today from sun up till about noon. Started in the north end in the buck brush but only caught one little keeper (someone told me there were fish up there, good one  lo ) Anyway after that I started hitting my usual bank lines and docks and managed a dozen fish by noon. Caught them on spinner baits and jigs in two to three foot of water.

I put pics of a couple of the fish I caught in my gallery just click on the gallery button to the left.

No Mike I didnt check the North end out.  Jay flew over the lake last week and said there were about a dozen boats up there in the far north end.

Fished yesterday from 0900-1300 with a friend. Caught 14 using a carolina rig throwing centipedes. Best 5 went around 10 lbs. Fish were caught fishing deeper water banklines and main lake points. Something must be wrong with my electronics cause last week lake temps were around 60, yesterday my temp gauge was telling me the water was in the 40's. Does not sound right.

Mike Cork

No I would have to say something is up, yesterday it should have actually been warmer, now tomorrow the surface temp will be cooler for sure after this front

Fished Cypress today from 2 til  6. We caught 5 small 11 inch fish & 2 of the biggest jacks I have ever seen. Caught fish on bare bank lines using chrome rattletraps, white spinner & shad baby one minus.

Water temp was 59-61.

I don't know how much good they were doing but the crappie fishermen were everywhere!

Michelle wanted me to add that she outfished me 4 to 1. Needless to say she is very proud of herself. I tried telling her that I was after quality rather than quantity...she wouldn't but it!

bassadict69

Well, after my wife seen all the white perch fishermen on the lake Saturday, she wanted to go white perch fishing Sunday so I didn't get to prefish Bisteneau.

We fished from about 11 til 4. Kept 34 white perch & caught no telling how many. All were caught in 17-19 feet of water on shiners. Temps ranged from 58-62 later in the day.

Mike Noble

Very good trip Bassadict.  I guess you will be frying fish soon.

Yep...We fry some fish for the two of us about once a week, but Michelle was talking yesterday about it was almost time for a big fish fry! She also keeps mentioning a crawfish boil! But man...them crawfish are ALOT of trouble!

Went to Black Bayou in Benton Monday caught 8 or 9 dont remember for sure. had 2 overs one about 3 and one a little over 6. all on lizards on the banks.

Mike Cork

Fished Cypress today for a couple hours before the rains hit. Caught a couple on jigs under docks and then picked up the "Charlie" awesome bait from Mega Bait (check out the Business to Business thread for more info) casting between the docks and started catching some real good fish. All were in 2-3 ft of water and agressively attacking this bait.

Mike,  Is that a plastic swim bait.  Hard to see in the picture.  Seems like swim baits are becoming more popular recently.  I been thinking about giving them a try.  Any of you fellas try em?
