Fished from 1200-1700 yesterday. Caught three on a spinnerbait and one on a crank. Water temp was all over between 53 (north)- 61 (south) depending where you were, like 100 yards apart I saw a 5 degree temp shift in one creek!

Brushhog22, it was good meeting you and Chase. Glad y'all had a great day. Tell Jake "hi".

Mike, We'll be out there about 0700 today. Hope to see y'all. Stop by and say "HI".

Mike Cork

Fished from sun up to 1030. Caught 3 around 3-3.5 and another 5 that would be good solid keepers. Caught them all on docks with a brown and orange jig. Couldn't really sink my teeth into a pattern other than docks. Some shallow some deeper. I think the front had them scattered.

Hey brushhog22 that was the same old timer.  He told us about the catfish also.  I was going to go out today, but I had a headache (not a hangover) so I couldn't get out of the bed.  I did watch the basscenter this morning, and I tell you that I would LOVE to go to Venezuela and catch some of them Peacock Bass!

BassBUFF

Went yesterday about an hour longer than Mike. I caught two and missed two. Kingfish got the the best one, right at 3lbs. One of mine came on a spinner and the other on a rattle trap. Kingfish got his on a rattletrap. Wind got terrible! Geting the boat on the trailer was a job in itself!

Mike, Looks like you had a good pattern going. I told Kingfish as you went by what dock you were going to and lo and behold, that's where you went  lo!

Bent, I set up the VCR to tape it all, set down to watch it last night and found I'd recorded the wrong channel :'(! I was bummed! Wish they'd do a replay late at night so those of us that fished in the morning could catch it later.

Mike Cork

Yeah, those docks can be pretty good because they are so deep  ~c~ Sorry for idling between you and the shore, wasn't sure which way you were headed and then when I got back there and looked back I see that I just idled down the bank you were going to fish :( sorry about that. When I got to the lake, my main cranking battery was dead so I figured with it being cold and all and needing some running time I would just idle all the way.

Anyway, a brown and orange Strike Works Jig in 5/16 tipped with a watermelon craw worm did the trick for me.

No problem. We were actually fishing along that hump, didn't really try closer to the bank until after you went by hoping you might have stirred them up  lo!

I've noticed that color combo seems to work really well on Cypress. Haven't had much luck with it anywhere else. I hooked into nice one about a week ago on a dock with that combo.

Mike Cork

Usually for me a watermelon/amber skirt and a watermelon craw is what gets it. But two weekends ago I guess it was I didn't get bit on it so I switched up a bit. Sometimes you can get them going on a camo skirt as well. But I have always done well with a watermelon trailer.

Has anyone fished in the north end of the lake yet, up around the bridge and buck brush?

Went up there to the flats south of the first dock, really barren. No vegetation showing and didn't get a bite. Kingfish and I put in up there a couple weeks ago and fished north of the bridge. Water was very high and pretty swift, no bites.

Fininshed up class early and headed to the lake ;D! Fished from 1445- 1730. Caught two and missed two. One on a crankbait, 3-14, and the other on a brush hog, 1-4.  Water temp ranged from 51 up the creeks to 56 on the lake.

Thought I recognized your blazer. I was fishing some docks and saw a guy in a green/white boat, thought it was you, but it was a Pro-Gator. Nice fella though. Hate we didn't hook up.

Mike Cork

Who's going Saturday 28th, looks like it will be cool but the wind is supposed to be minimal. I think I will be out there, don't know if it will be first thing but I will probably be headed that way. Look for the Black and White Cobra and flag me down.

Look for Kingfish and me on Black today. Hope to see you guys!

Mike Cork

Cypress was kinda tough today but the company was great. Thanks for coming up to fish with me Dope Man.... He wore me out today caught the first two fish then I got a suicide fish on a bank line. Then he caught another one as we closed the day. His came on plastics and I pitched a jig most of the day. Had two hits on a jig strong enough to pull my skirt down, then one that I just missed, and then broke one off and then had one hit a jig in a brush top but clean missed it, I seen this fish come up and take it off a limb and still missed it :roll2: not a good day for me doing the Jig lo

I'll tell you that "kinda tough" beats the heck out of "ridiculously tough", which is what it was like on Black.  Unfortunately for you that had plans all along to fish Cypress for the tournament...I think you will have company from those that considered Black Bayou.

Did you have a hook on that jig?  :roll2:
