Railroader,

I've got to get a sticker, too.  They open the state park at 0700.  I'll be in a black and silver Tidecraft with Gabby.  Country will be in his red and white Pro Gator with Jay.  Stop by and say hi.

Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and you'll never see him again!

Railroader

went to cypress today, while I waited for the park to open i was able to visit with trey and gabby, was kewl to finally meet yall look forward to it again, also thanks for the help at the launch. water was aorund 52-55 most of the day i started out by missing one right off the bat on a jig, went to north fishing banks protected by the wind my first fish was 2.1lb on the jig went down a little further caught a 2.4lb on the jig, then a dink. moved back toward the beach area missed at least a 3lb had the net in my hand reached out and it shook its head got off.. :'( it was hard to fish the places i wanted to fish due to the wind next time wil bring my anchor.. hope trey and gabby have a better story.

Gabby

Yeah, we had a pretty decent day too, Railroader.  It was nice to meet you, and hope we can fish together sometime (in that SWEET Nitro of yours!).  Don't worry, I'll bring some gas money. ;D

I fished with Trey, and Country fished with their buddy Jay.  We had a little "tournament" between the two teams - and the winning team got free lunch.

Anyways, I FINALLY got lucky with the Rat-L-Trap - catching 2 on Chrome & Blue (figured the flash on the chrome would work today since it was Blue Bird).  It was good to finally break the seal on the Trap.  Both were caught around docks in about 6-10 feet of water.

Trey caught his 2 on tube jigs (smoke w/ red flakes) off of docks.  All 4 of our fish were just under 2 lbs.  But before the "tournament" started, Trey caught a NICE 3 pounder.  I think it was on a Trap, and I am sure he will report.

Anyways, it was my 1st time to fish Cypress, and my 1st time to catch a fish on a Trap.  Seems like Trey & I have a lot of "1sts" when we fish together!

Fun trip.

mitchell

Good job Gabby! That rattle trap is pretty fun when it's on. Who won the Tournament?

Trey and I squeeked by with 4 fish weighing 6 or 7 lbs.  Here are a couple of pics, including my first Rat-L-Trap fish.

Trey's nice catch.

My 1st catch on a Rat-L-Trap.  Crazy, huh?

Hey, I have no problem giving a spot up to my friends!  lo

Your name came up a lot yesterday, Mike.  Don't worry, all good things.  They were all talking about how good you knew the lake.  If it helps anyone, Trey and I were both throwing Traps down that lane.  He had a red/chartreuse belly, I had the chrome.  The fish liked the chrome that day!  Try the tube jig too.

Man, sure wish I had a boat that someone could de-plug!!!

Gabby I would fish side by side with anyone from the club (I hope Trey and Contry decide to fish). I love the company from good people which is what I think of all of you.

I was just teasing lo shoot I am going to be out of state for this coming tournament and won't be able to join you all :'(

Yeah, that is going to be real weird without you there, Mike.  We are sure going to miss you.

I wish they would too.  I know Trey is involved with a Church club which fishes on Sunday, and that is the only thing keeping him.  I always have fun when we fish.

At this point, I am trying to get as much fishing in as I can with the kid coming.  It's going to be REAL tough after that.

 :)
Had a pretty good day yesterday, with the front and all coming through. Met and talked with several guys on the lake. Great group of guys. Ended up catching 5 going about 12 lbs. All fish were caught on a tube around docks with some deeper water with scattered brushpiles off the the ends of the docks. Seemed like the only way I could get bit was to find a pile off the end of the dock. Seemed like a pretty good pattern though. Oh yeah. I talked with country and then hit this dock and caught a good 3 lb fish. Moved out talked to country again for about 5 minutes. First cast to the same spot as the other fish and boom, another 3 lber. That was pretty cool.

Mike Cork

Cool deal, got to meet a bunch of great folks and caught some good fish!!!!

We got to Cypress this morning at 7:00 and fished till 2, and we catch a thing.  Not even a bit or a whoa, what was that!?  Nothing, and we pitched worms, jigs, and rattle traps.  We even tried crappie fishing, and nothing.  I'm going back in the morning, so maybe we'll have better luck tomorrow?

Gabby

That's what you get for peeing on LSU! :roll2:

BassBUFF

I know those docks too!! Looks like most of you had a good day except Brent (I've got to agree with Gabby's assessment :roll2:). My father-in-law wasn't feeling well, effects of some new medicine, so we didn't make it out (he was bummed). They're heading back to LR this morning. Might try this afternoon and tomorrow. Gotta call Kingfish.

Trey

I went ot Cypress yesterday with Jay and Country went with Eric.  Wind was terrible first thing in the morning, ~tumble but it settled down and became a pretty nice day.  Water temp started at 47-49 and went to 52 by three o'clock.  The only bite I had was on a dock in 3 ft of water using a black/red flake jig and matching trailer.  I got a bite and set the hook.  I fought the fish and got her to the boat. ~cf  I kinda rushed things a bit and I didn't have my net out (practicing flipping 'em in the boat when it's not a tournament).  Anyways I reached down to lip the fish and I grabbed the line to slide my hand down to the fish's lip.  I don't think I had the hook in her very well, because as soon as I touched the line she got off.  :shocking:  ~rant Jay was there to witness/confirm that she was between 5 and 6 pounds.  ??? Oh well.  If it would've been a tournament I would have had the net ready and landed the fish.  I guess i got a little over confident from lipping that 4.3 last week on a rat-l-trap, but from now on I will have a net ready for those big fish!!!  BTW that was the only bite I had all day, with the exception of a few bumps that I set the hook on and hauled water.  :'(

I'll pee on LSU everday of the week, but as long as the fish dont hold a grudge I'll be alright!

Fished cypress today from 0730-1230. Caught 4 fish,10'',14'',14 1/2'', and 18''. The water was 48-50 stained. Caught two off docks and two in grass. The fish where spread out. I used a spinnerbait mostly and that was the ticket today. If theres a south wind for the tournament then I will be happy :). Going tommorrow to try some new areas. White blazer with skeeter/70 hp. If you see me be sure to say hello.

I'll bet you do, considering the Hoop beatdown we dropped on you tonight!!!!  I hear it has the Hogs talking about changing conferences!!!! ~c~ ~c~

I will be there in the morning but don't know how long i'll stay. Should be a good day so if i do ok i'll stay and try some new spots. Been doing good on figureing out patterns early in the morning and its helped me catch some good fish the past 2 weeks. I think the 18'' fish I caught today had eggs. Fat round belly and heavy so I put it back and hope I can find it again in a few weeks. I'll have my cell so if you get to come out give me a call. Take care and congrats on the Toad today!

Fished Cypress today from 2:30 till 6:00.  Fished some deep docks between 5 to 8 feet with a 3 1/2 inch balck and blue tube.  I had a few bites, but only landed one, and he was a dandy for my first tube fish.  He weighed between 4 and 5 pounds, so that made the slow day better.  Around dark I caught one more on a black spinner by another dock.  I talked to an old timer who said he caught around 18 today in 7 feet of water with a diamond and blue rattle trap.  The water was between 55 and 60 degrees.

brushhog22

Fished cybress today with by buddy Chase from 12:30 til sunset.  We caught 12 on spinnerbaits and jigs.  Bassbuff, it was good to meet you, im sure we will see you again out there.  hey brent, i talked to some old timer too and he said he missed a 40 lb catfish on a rattletrap.  he also said he had caught 8 bass and that was pretty late in the day.  IF that is the same guy you talked to he must have really got in them at towards dark.  He was also throwing a rattletrap. The fishing sure has been great out there.
