Trey and Country,

Congrats, that is awesome.  It was nice meeting yall out there last week. Cybress is also one of my favorite places to fish.  I wish my brother and I could have been out there, but I had to go back to school at La Tech.  Hope to see you again.

BassBUFF

Country and Trey, it was good to meet you guys on Cross, but missed you at the tournament. Glad y'all had a good day. I really like Cypress too. Can't believe the water temp was up that much either but that lake seems to warm up faster than others. Maybe we can hook up sometimes. I'm in the global or ask on of your ECM trooops, shoot me an email or give me a call.

Trey, Sounds like you had a blast! ~c~ ~c~ I'm going tomorrow morning to try my luck. What color and size trap where you using? I have a few 1/4 oz bleeding shad but seems most have been throwing a red crawfish pattern 1/2 oz. If its that way at cypress then I will need to make a run to BPS tonight. Thanks for any tips in advance.

Thanks for all the accolades, but it had a lot to do with being in the right place at the right time. :-[  Mitch, I started using a chartruce/craw in the 1/2 oz variety, but I hooked a shad and noticed the size and color were the same as my old standby...chrome with a blue or black back 1/2 oz Rat-L-Trap.  I caught a few with the chartruce craw, but did way better with the chrome.  I actually had better success using the yo-yo retrieve.  Any kind of erratic movement seemed to trigger more strikes.  There is a big cold front coming through today, so the pattern my be different tommorow, but it wouldn't hurt to give it a try.  If anybody is interested, Country and I are headed back to Cypress Saturday, give us a call if you want to hook up and fish together.

Thanks for the tips! I'm going to try a few things that I don't fish alot like the rat-l-trap and maybe a tube bait. I'll post what I find  :) or don't find  :'(.

Mitch,

If you aren't familiar with the rat-l-trap much, try a steady retrieve first.  Then try the yo-yo (raise your rod tip to the 12:00 position rapidly then reel as you let the rod tip back down).  Then you could try to fish it like a jerk bait.  I caught a few this way yesterday.  Just hold your rod tip down like a crankbait and jerk the rod like you're fishing a rougue.  One of my favorite techniques is to rip the bait through the grass.  When the bait breaks free of the grass, it jumps erratically and that triggers stikes.  Good luck, hope this helps!

Fish cypress today from 0800-1300. Had one bite on a watermelon jig on a dock  and missed it. Tried crankbaits, rat-l-traps,jig, and tubes. The wind was cold and blowing pretty good. Water was 50-53.

Well Mike I did see a lot of bass jumping this morning But the alarm clock went off and scared them all away lo .

Kenny I wasn't working so I'm sure I did but it sure was cold. The wind chill was giving me a headache so I stayed in the lower part of the lake. If it's like this in Feb. you better bring a good face mask.

I got out from 1100-1500 yesterday. Water temp was 51 to 54 and very stained. Threw a jig, spinner, couple of suspending cranks, and brushog to points, docks, and creek channels. Nothing, nada, zilch, which is what I figured it would be after the weather we had. Talked to some crappie fishermen and the story was the same. I've noticed the bite on Cypress usually takes a day or two of stable weather to get back to normal. Gonna try again this afternoon after finishing up moving the daughter.

bassadict69

Fished for white perch today from about 1130 until 430. The bite was real slow. We only caught 4...no real size to any of them. We had lots of bites, but they were barely tapping it. I think they were just toying with us.

Water on main lake where we stayed was 52-53 degrees.

Mike...How did ya'll do?

Mike Cork

We started at daybreak and fished until about 1400 then played with the boat till about 1530 and fished till almost dark. I think we may have had 10 bass. All on brush hogs in 5-8 ft of water. The bite was very slow but we caught a few and had a great time. Dave the Dope Man is a lot of fun to fish with, but he does get a little excited and wet things down a bit  :roll2:

Had a great day on the water with lots of good conversation about bass fishing and general life. Even the weather got nice this afternoon. Except for a bigger bite we couldn't have asked for a more enjoyable day.

All but two of our fish were keepers but no big fish candidates.

Trey, Contry, and Sears how did you all do? And I believe I seen Bass Buff out there too but he didn't slow down  lo

I thought that was you I seen out there playing. I did see once while ya'll were running down the middle of the lake when it looked like you may have gotten a little wet!

We weren't real sure it was you though...it didn't quite look like Laurie in the boat with you.  ;D

Mike Cork

No too cold this morning, when we were playing Big Dave was at the helm  lo After we found the note on the truck, he said oh were they in his gator? I think I seen them ::) I don't know how I didn't recognize y'all sorry or we would have stopped to chat. I forgot to post but we caught a huge crappie on a bursh hog from the middle of the three state park docks out on the end of it.

Did I miss the story about Dave getting wet? :-\

papa 8)

Mike Cork

No real story just the reason he was unable to call home. We test drove the cobra today and I made Dave do a 180 at about 3/4 throttle. Well the boat will not slide or skip but the prop will blow out and you lose your bite. When that happens the wake that you just created in the turn comes back up over the back of the boat into the splashwell and some water got on the deck and ran threw the back deck rod locker and soaked his phone.

Mike Cork

No mess  lo Nitro Girl had a special request for Dave the Dope Man and he fulfilled it so he at least had a bargaining chip

Sorry I missed you guys! Were y'all sitting across from the state park talking? I didn't recognize any of the boats.

Good to hear you caught fish. We got two back in the creeks. Water was 47 up north to 54 down south.

Trey

Sears, Country, and I didn't catch anything until right before sunset.  We were on the North end of the lake fishing some grass and caught 3 on rat-l-traps.  All were weigh fish, but nothing big.  Had a great time, though.  Are you guys going to prefish again on Friday?

Been out to Cypress a couple times since the first.  Pattern seems to be the same even during/after last weekends cold front.  Cranks with chartruese in 4 ft on timber or docks.  Black bayou had the same results, only the fish seemed to be bigger on BB.  Hope this helps, but not too much as I plan to fish the next tournament.  Ill most likely be out on Cypress and/or BB this weekend.  Maybe Ill getto meet some of you.  I have a red Blazer boat with a 150 Evinrude.  If not, see u at the tournament.  Korky
