I think that Wagonners pocket he is referring to is the same as White Oak. I think!  :-\ If I remember right the lake commisioner was named Wagonner years ago & he lived right there in that pocket. That is what I have always called the pocket anyway. I am like Steve, that is the only name I know on the lake.

Mike Noble

I was wondering that too.  I think I might have heard it called Waggoners Pocket.

Learn something new everyday! Sounds like Waggoner's and White Oak are the same. I remember someone else saying White Oak but never knew where they were talking about.

Might try and get out there in a little while, it'll be the only chance I get today.

I'll be ot there tomorrow drowning a few shiners. I'll be in a green Pro Gator. There will probably be 3 of us in the boat. Stop by & introduce yourself if you see us.

I'll be the guy with a big blue cast on his arm!  ::)

We got on the lake about 10:00 this morning & fished until 3:30. We only managed 2 white perch & one small bass.

It was WAY too windy! Water temp was 56-57 degrees.

Have fun on the board, it's packed with good info, just like you have already shared with us on Cypress. Take care, hope to see you on the water soon.....

I fished Cypress from about 3:30 Saturday till dark.  I managed a few, on a rattle trap, bouncing it off of the corner posts of docks.  Not bad, since I hadn't been fishing in about 3 months.

Mike Noble

Thanks for the report fishin nut.  Glad to see you are fishing.

Country and I fished Cypress yesterday from 12 to 4 PM.  I had three bites and boated one about 2#'s.  Country had one on that wrapped around a dock pileling and got off, but he caught a 3+ #'er off of another dock.  I had two bites on a Zoom Old Monster Worm (Tequilla Sunrise) and caught one on a 1/4 oz black/blue jig.  Country had both bites on the 1/4 oz black/blue jig.  The water was about 46-47 degrees at noon, but by 4 it was around 50.  We didn't get bit until about 3 or so.  All of our bites came in 3-7 foot of water near docks or flooded treetops.  Water was slightly stained.

Damon & I fished yesterday from 1:30 to 5 without much success.  I thought we could try some crappie fishing while I practiced pitching a jig around docks.  First dock we got to Damon had a bite off the front main lake side but it stole his shiner and got away.  That's it the one & only for the day.  We moved down to the bridge & found some fish on the depthfinder but no takers, moved under the bridge back to the feeder creek & I found fish at every bend but couldn't get them to eat.  Water was a bit stained and cold 44 most of the afternoon but found it to be 46 on the run back to the launch.  Had fun with my son but wished I could have put him on some fish.  We are planning a trip to the Sabine in 2 weeks to check out the whites.

I fished Cypress today from 4 to 5:30p.m. and had a BLAST!  I went to the north part of the lake off a point that Mike loves, and boated 5 real nice bass.  The best stringer I believe I've ever had!  The smallest was a 3 pounder and the biggest was a 7 1/2 pounder!  Believe or not, but throw a black sapphire brush hog on a carolina rig and see if it'll be as sweet to you as it was to me!

Jared LeBlue

Now that had to be a fun trip and to catch a good stringer like that in an hour and a half is awesome.

Went to Cypress today from 1100 to 1730.  The water was stained, but pretty clear.  The water temp was an unbelievable 62 degrees!!! :shocking:  It was 58 when I got there and 62 when I left.  I thought my temp guage was broken  :-\ but the water was actually warm to the touch and the fish we caught were warm.  I didn't get a bump on the main lake fishing docks.  Country and I had a few bites last week out there on a jig but no takers today.  The wind was whipping up the surface real bad.  The bow of my 19' boat was plunging up and down like that MotorGuide commercial where the trolling motor comes out of the water!  :o  I decided that I would seek some shelter in the back of the coves.  I fished a few more docks with a jig but noticed that the temp was rising.  I remember Doc and Mike's posts about throwing a Rat-L-Trap, so I tied one on.  The rest is history...  ~cf The wind had pushed the shad back up in the creeks.  They were so thick you could practically walk on water!  The bass were actually schooling, yes I said schooling!!!   j~w  I quickly caught 7 or 8 before I boated a personal best on that lake; a 4.3 toad!  It was so good that I called Country and told him to leave work early!   >:D  He met me at the dock and we fished for another hour and a half.  Country caught one on his very first cast and he caught 6 more.  He had quite a few fish that were 1.5-2#'s or better.  I managed to get a 3.2 and a 2.8 as well as so many other fish I lost count!!!  In total I say about 25-30 fish were caught from 1400 until 1730.  It was a true blessing and a wonderful day of fishing.  Country and I needed that to clear away that skunk from Cross lake last weekend. :'(  I really hate Cross Lake!!!  So in review:  Rat-L-Traps, 62 degrees, shallow water in back of creeks, grass, wind, big fish.

Awesome fishing report and congrats on putting together an outstanding pattern. That old rattle trap is pretty amazing sometimes ~c~ Did it matter which cover or creek you were in? I would imagine all creeks that were wind blown were producing expecially with the warming water.

~c~ ~c~ Good job putting together a pattern. I am glad to see a good report come off of Cypress. Looks like the posts on U/B has paid off again! Amazing how you can remember reading something, put it to use & end up tering 'em up!

Country

today was something!!!  We have been doing well on Cypress as of late.  My last couple of trips to Cypress have all produced fish in the 2 or 3 pound range.  Even when water was cold, we cought a few on jigs in shallow water.  Right now, I love Cypress.  I also hate Cross.  I may peel my sticker off the boat to keep me from going over there.  I think Mike is the only one who can fish that lake.
