I'm not sure they are biting great either.  Based on the number of boats...not many, the lack of any concentration of boats drift fishing, and the amount of running around they were doing; well, I'm just guessing the good bite hasn't started yet.  I definitely want to give it a try again this year.  Didn't even try last year.

Fished Cypress yesterday from about 1:00 until just before dark. Caught NOTHING! Tried cranks, spinners, jigs, & plastics. Hit bank & boathouses...Shallow & deep...Not one bite.

Several boats were drifting the main lake with minnows catching white perch off the bottom. We tried that too but still couldn't catch anything.

Mike Cork

Tough day on the water, maybe it's best we go to Caddo for this coming tournament any how lo

Sorry for the late report!  :-[  I fished cypress the 24th and had alittle luck on the points with some kind of cover. 1 had grass and 1 had a laydown. Spinnerbait(white) around the grass and a junebug lizzard right into the middle of the laydown. Couldn't get bit in the back of the coves and only fished about 5 docks.

Don't be sorry Mitch, late is better then never, heck even the IRS will take there taxes late!    lo  Just drop in when you can & tell lies with the rest of us. Um, I mean fishing reports!  What was the water like, muddy clear how about the temp, details man we crave information.

Thanks Mitch, will pick you & your girl up @ Home Dept Sunday Morning for the drive to Caddo.

Play Nice or Die!
Fogy

bassadict69

Water temps Sunday was 59 degrees that afternoon. Water had a slight stain to it but was fairly clear...for Cypress.

mitchell

Fogy the water was 63 and mostly clear. Also forgot to tell you that we found a 6 foot gator belly-up. It was on the left bank right before you get to the no ski markers. Didn't mess with it so I don't know what killed it. Didn't want to be the one who got caught with a dead gator by the PoPo.

Later,

Tried again for the white perch. We got out there about 2:00 & fished til dark. After weeding through lots of little ones, we brought home 17. Drifted shiners on bottom in 17-20 feet of water.

Water was 57 degrees.

Mike Cork

That's awesome, I may have to go try that, thanks BassAddict ~c~

Were you out in the main lake right across from the ramp?

Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and you'll never see him again!

bassadict69

Yes... We pretty much stayed in front of the two points across from the launch. The fog was terrible out there yesterday afternoon.Couldn't even see the launch from the other side!

bassadict69

I just called and got a report from my wife. She is out white perch fishing with her uncle.  ^-^ ^-^ O0 O0 ~xyz ~xyz ~xyz ... Anyway, they have only caught a few white perch (since about 9am) & one 2 pound bass. I guess the warmer weather has shut down the crappie bite out there!

I still plan on going Sunday whether they are biting or not!

Yesterday, Michelle & her uncle ended up with about 20 white perch & 3 bass. They fished drom about 9am until 4:30pm.

She just called me...They are going again today,  ~xyz at least until the winds pick up.

I'll post later how they do.

I just found out they are fishing Black Bayou today hoping the wind won't be quite as bad since it is a smaller lake. I'll post later on the B/B thread about there trip while I am stuck here at work!

BassBUFF

Howdy! I'm new to the board but fish Cypress often. Had a chance to go out yesterday afternoon and caught five 1-2lbers. Had my best luck in the back of the creeks with a crankbait. Hope to see some of you out there!

Steve

Mike Cork

Thanks for the report Steve. Which Creek were you fishing? White Oak or Rambo's?

Mitchell- Water was stained and ranged from 56.5 on the lake to 60.5 in the back of the creeks. Had most of my bites in 59-60 water.

Mike- The only creek name I know is Wagoner's Pocket, and it wasn't there. I hit the two creeks across from the southern launch and the one that meanders south of the State Park. Let me know which is what!

Mike Noble

If you went in the pocket right by the Park, with the multi-stall boat house, that is Rambo's.  White Oak is the pocket across from that, with all the stumps in it.
