Finally didn't get skunked today...no real pattern to the fish I caught - was just happy to put a few in the boat.  Fished from about 9:30-3:00 covering quite a bit of water with traps and spinners (didn't use plastics today) and I think put a total of 5 in the boat.  2-3 slots and the rest unders.  Went east this time as the west end has hated me lately.  Hooked a good over that promptly jumped out of the water, laughed at me, and spit the hook out. 

Towards the end of my afternoon I was fishing a tree line when I snagged my trap about 3 feet off the trees fairly deep in the water.  Wouldn't give at all.  So I'm leaning way over the boat with my arm as far into the water to see if I can even feel the lure as I pull gently on the line - the line gives a little bit and I start pulling it in.         Then a danged alligator snapping turtle appears that had devoured my lure - boy was he mad.  Completely destroyed the two treble hooks on the trap.  Had a dickens of a time trying to get my bait back without losing a finger or toe.  I've never seen such an aggressive turtle.

You need to wipe the turtle attractant off your lures

Dang man, I don't think I would run my hand down in the waters around here. That thing could have easily removed some digits. Maybe ease the rod tip down there or something. Either way, I agree with JBlack. I think you picked up a can of smelly turtle instead of smelly jelly.

Fished Cross from 3p to 530 caught 4 unders all on Watermelon/red lizard not too bad for a couple of hours.           JJB great pics by the way! You might have to change that caption from Dink Slayer to Turtle Torturer    smiley

Not that is a big one....glad you were able to get the bait out....and keep all your fingers...
