Hello fellow Bass Fishermen,
I am originally from Washington State, USA and currently live in Shanghai, China. I am an avid Bass Fisherman and have bass fished in the Pacific Northwest, California, Texas, Florida and many times in Mexico. Since living in Shanghai, I have not even thought about trying to bass fish as it is my understranding China has no bass fishing. I have a friend that recently went to South Korea and he tells me he saw bass boats fishing on a lake he drove by. He asked the driver what they were fishing for and was told Black Bass. That has peaked my interest and I was wondering if anyone knows of any Bass Guides in South Korea. It is only a little more than an hour flight away and I would do it in a heartbeat if I knew where to go. All of my fishing gear is in storage in the US along with my boat so I would need to use whatever tackle a guide can provide.
If anyone can help me locate a guide service in South Korea, I would be very thankful. I am happy I found this forum and hope to read up on bass fishing internationally.

First of all NWBassman, welcome to UB  lo

I don't know of any guides, but I will ask everyone I know until I find you one. Give me a couple of days to find some info for you.

If I don't find a you guide, you are welcome to fish with me although it may not be what you are looking for. My boat is only small (very small), but it does help me catch fish  ;D ~fff
I will be able to fish during the week days depending on my work schedule.

dear NW from what i have been told outdoor sports in Korea are very expensive.i cant say for sure about a guide but golfing has a 2-3 month schedule in advance and can cost upwards of 2000.00-3000.00 u.s. dollars. now this is just hear say i have been living in so Korea for only about a month now and i haven't found any luck with a bass guide but I'll let you know something if i hear it and hope you will do the same.
thanks Adam

adam stephens, first of all, welcome to UB and Korea  ;D
There are bass guides that guide on Andong lake on the east coast of Korea, but they are not an actual company, just some guys wanting to make some money (i guess). They charge from $100 ~ $150 per day excluding tackle and fuel.

If you want a contact number, I can get it for you.

You mentioned golf.....golf is super expensive here in Korea and waiting lists for golf courses can be months, I know this first hand  ~xyz

Hello all, I am stationed in the US Air Force and I might be moving to South Korea, Osan area. I am looking to do some bass fishing or deep sea fishing. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction and also the tackle that is commonly used. I currently live in Northern Japan and the bass are not that big (maybe the size of my hand). I have been fishing since I was a child and I am looking forward to catching some bigger fish that can put up a fight while I'm in Asia. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ~cf

Cmaxwell, welcome to UB.com  ~c~

I am not familiar with the Osan area, but just about any fresh water in the area will hold bass. For deep sea fishing, there are charter boats that you can rent for the day. They are quite pricey, so best to get together with a bunch of anglers and share the costs. I don't do much sea fishing, so I can't really help.
