I bet if you were in a Ranger you would have made it back to weigh-in on time. ~roflmao You know I had to go there Shawn. lo

Seriously, I like both boats and again I would pick the Legend because of their customer service. Like stated below, all boats manufactured today are quality boats, if they are not they don't stay in business. Everyone has their reasons for choosing one over another.

Actually you are probably right. If I was getting the beating that Russ said they were when we passed them , I probably wouldn't have run the extra 10 miles to where we were fishing .  ;)

I was talking to the younger better looking Jared anyway.  ;) lo lo

Rangers are definitely slower than legends but I willing to bet that ranger's have a smoother ride. Ranger's are also wider that those skinny legends and you have more space to fish. The deep hull cuts into the water and it has more control. I have never ridden in a legend but based on the obvious differences this is the conclusion that I gather.

Jared, you really need to at least stand on the front deck or take a closer look before you call them skinny. The may appear that way but it's because of they length, I am not sure of your model ranger nor it's dimensions, however bring a tape measure and I bet there is more width on the Legend.

Rough water ride well I'll put my boat up one on one against any one out there on any water. I have put my through the ringer, honestly lets go when it comes to rough water ride, if you got a better boat I want to know :-*

Jared, if you have been wanting a ride so bad all you had to do is ask ~shade Laurie loves giving demo rides ~c~ ~c~

One of my friends here on Barksdale retired from the Air Force a few years back.  He lives on Caddo and his dream was to get a Ranger as a retirement gift.  The fit and finish on is was embarrassing, lids didn't line up, carpet coming up, screws were falling out the rubber rub bar so much so they were pushing out the rubber.  I know that there are going to be bad examples for any product however to have someone that just love and had to have the "Best Boat Ever Built" to admit he wished he never got it was a shock.  To top it off after about 1 year of ownership he hit something on Caddo and needed Glass work to get the boat fixed.  Took forever, had to send it back to the factory and they were less than helpful.  This guy now uses an aluminum boat by the way, gave up on the Ranger Dream.
C'mon dude, that's one instance in a thousand million trillion. And of course if you hit something it does not matter what boat you are in, it,s going to damage it. Unless of course you are running a Navy built destroyer or somthing. I did not claim perfection. I just said they are the built well. Legends are too. Maybe I was unclear in my argument so I will simply say Rangers and Legends are two makes that are BOTH worth buying. They are both on the upper tier of manufacturers in the industry and in comparison have give and take qualities. I have yet to see a boat that has it all... except for maybe NorrisCraft minus the bling, glitz and glammer.

Oh and my comments above are not the only ones.   8)   Before this gets even more into a ford/chevy thing I did say there are going to be issues with all boats my 1st post here was in responce to your post that I quoted and marked in red about "Rangers are built to last... a long long long time. So well built that durability can not be matched by any boat out there in my opinion. " they not only can be matched they are as of late not near as strong as they once were.

I was in a big tourney last year and road in a Ranger 21 commache/225 evinrude HO. I thought it was pretty fast until I watched two legends go by like we were standing still. On top of that, the lake was rough as hell. (Toledo Bend / wind @ 20mph) Now I was glad to be in a bigger boat, but after about a 10 min run the boat started to come apart. I was holding the dash panels and gauges in place. The rough water just beat that boat to death. I thought I was going to have kidney problems after that.
I recently bought a new Legend 199, after being rescued by a 211 Alpha. The lake was pretty rough that day and we ran across 2 fts @ 65 mph like they weren't there. I couldn't believe the ride. Like a red hot knife through butter. It felt so comfortable and smooth, plus I was in the middle seat.
Did someone say handling? I can do things in my legend that compares to a jet ski. Better hold on or it will though you out. Yet if your running down the lake and your hands get cold just put them in your pockets, the boat will run like its on a rail.
The first time I had my 199 out, there was a lake wind avisory, so yeah the lake was bad. 3 ft white caps all day long. Since I hadn't had it out prior I ran across those waves with some caution and at 40mph I was just cruzing like it was nothing. Very Dry Ride.
If I was to compare rides, I would compare a Champion to Legend for their ride, However like many have said on here, the costomer service from the Legend pro-staff all the way to the wonderful folks at the factory sold me. I went to pick up my boat 3 weeks ago and the Legend folks put me and my son up in a beautiful cabin, overlooking Bull Shoals lake, for the night. I don't know any other boat company that would do that.
Needless to say I'm very proud to be a part of the Legend family!!!      ~1

All I know is I bought a used Legend boat at the time was two years old and ever since I have been treated by everyone at the factory like it was brand new. More than once they have gone out of their way to get me what I needed and more often what I wanted.

Its not Legends desire to be the biggest boat company out there, only to be a successful one.
They not only treated me as a customer they have treated me like a friend.
Dollar for dollar there is no comparison.

That being said,to each his own.

Also my Legend as well as that I know of will run WOT with no hands on the wheel. I'm thinking thats more of a hydraulic steering thing more than anything.

But I could be wrong. ~shade

I bought my little Ranger nine years ago, nothing has fell off yet. Now my friend did loose the back seat out of his Cajun one time. I'm not sure you would get that kind of dealer service out of Ranger though because it is part of a large corporation now. It would be up to the individual dealer.
I don't mind not knowing all the answers, but I keep forgeting the danged questions.

Rudy

Hey I have a great idea...Legend guys keep your Legends and us Ranger guys will keep our Rangers.

Now everyone's happy.

Mike, how does your boat run on Fork when it gets really windy? I know ours doesnt good at all on that thing. When she gets her waves going you might as well put down your fishing rod and go surfing.

That's really nice of you all, and I thank you, to offer me a test ride. I don't know what dad would say but it's worth a shot. Again, thank you for your kindness. ;)

Ya'll sound like a bunch of third graders in a pi$$in' contest.  Back to the original question, Zdude go take a drive and see which one you like best. :-* By the way I could pi$$ in a rain gutter from the ground when I was in third grade, now I'd have a hard time doing it from the roof.
